Man on Wire, Waltz With Bashir Win at IDA

Variety reports that Distinguished Feature honors when to Man on Wire and Waltz with Bashir in a tie vote at the International Documentary Association Awards. Man on Wire is being set up to be the doc frontrunner. You know how those Academy doc voters are, though. Can Man on Wire stay on top?

I’ve seen and love both of these films. Waltz really pushes the boundaries of the medium and Man on Wire is simply hugely entertaining.

Waltz with Bashir just won best composer (Max Richter) at the European Film Awards. I wonder if it can get an original score nomination from BFCA or the Globes. It already has an Annie music nom.

This tie could be the best decision all awards season. Well done.

MAN ON WIRE of course is truly outstanding, and I have heard nothing but great things about WALTZ WITH BASHIR.
But the best documentary of the year in my opinion is DEAR ZACHARY: A LETTER FROM A SON TO HIS FATHER. It’s extraordinarily moving.
UP THE YANGTZE is among the best too.
