Unless I’m missing a title or two, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button today entered the Big Book of Oscar History (such as it is) as only the 11th film ever to receive 13 nominations or more .
So how do the other 10 movies do? 7 went on to win Best Picture:
- All About Eve (1950) (14 noms)
- Titanic (1997) (14 noms)
- Gone With The Wind (1939)
- From Here to Eternity (1953)
- Forrest Gump (1994)
- Shakespeare in Love (1998)
- Chicago (2002)
Three movies received 13 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, but didn’t win the big prize:
- Mary Poppins (1964)
- Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966)
- The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
