This may — or may not — be an artist’s conception or ‘spy photo’ of a CG representaion of a Mech unit device/apparatus/contraption to be featured in James Cameron’s Avatar. It comes via Alex Billington at First Showing, with the caveat that he has no idea if it’s the real deal or not but he wants to trust his sources at MarketSaw who in turn claim it’s “guaranteed GOLD” from an insider Avatar informant.
I want to believe it’s real, too, because I’m sick of this shot being the only glimpse we’ve had for months. I’m aware there are some of you who’d really rather not see anything until it’s officially certified in genuine 3-D, so I won’t explain what a Mech is supposed to be until after the cut. If you don’t want to know, don’t read any further, but you can click on the photo above for a full length view.
Alright, a Mech is a powersuit worn by Avatar troopers, similar to the mechanized fork-lift robot operated by Ripley at the end of Aliens. Except a Mech is armed to the titanium teeth as a war machine. It’s a battle-ready shit-kicking Segway. Allegedly. So, there you have it. What do we think? Mech or Meh?
