Actually very nice Winners, Shohreh is my favorite.
In TV Glee won everything that it was nominated for (Series, Actress, Actor).

wait…A Serious Man was a comedy????? It looked like the most depressing movie ever! Haha epic fail on my end I guess.
Carey is losing momentum…

Avatar wasn’t nominated for anything from this group…right?
Otherwise, the Satellites will be the laughingstock of the awards groups for not having given their Visual Effects prize to that spectacle.

Agree, ladylurks. I’ve not been able to see either of those films yet, but I’m rooting for Shoreh and Stuhlberg on general principle. Glad to see Hurt Locker getting more awards too, and Waltz and thrilled about Fantastic Mr. Fox, one of my very favorites this year.
Could do without Mo’nique. I totally don’t get the acclaim she’s getting. She was fine. I don’t know that I would have thought of her for a Best Supporting Actress nom at all though if people didn’t keep going on about how she’s winning it. I’m not disputing that they’re right but questioning how it’s getting so much adulation.

And yeah, Hans. Unless they didn’t get to screen it in time, there’s no excuse for Avatar not taking the Visual Effects prize here (or anywhere). Besides, the effects in 2012 were big and boomy but not entirely convincing to me, and certainly lacking any sense of real artistry, elegance or sophistication.

2012 best Visual Effects? I guess they nominated before Avatar came out?

I am sooooooo sick of THL. I thought it was overrated in the summer, and now it’s just beyond ridiculous.

On the TV side it looks like 30 Rock has some competition for once.

I would love to see Glee win everything everywhere – not just because it is a wonderful show and should – but just to stop hearing “The Winner is 30 Rock”. I can’t stand that show.

I like FANTASTIC MR. FOX a lot. But it still doesn’t scale the heights of UP, which is one of the year’s best films in any category.

I don`t care if these are just the Satellites, the wins for Michael Stuhlbarg and (500) Days of Summer`s screenplay are so well-deserved! Now if Zooey Deschanel could just get some attention…

(500) Days of Summer Screenplay, Every Little Step, and Michael Stuhlbarg = awesome picks. All three films are in my top ten for the year, (500) Days being #1, Every Little Step #2, and A Serious Man in the 7 or 8 area.

It’ll win next at the Golden Globes

OMFG, YAY MICHAEL STUHLBARG <3333.
This was one of the few awards the INCREDIBLY ROBBED Rosemarie DeWitt won last year, so to some degree, they bring justice to the less heralded–and I love them for that.

Nice to see Shohreh and 2012 get some attention. I realize AVATAR has the FX award in the bag, and I haven’t seen it yet to comment on it. However, 2012 was one of those movies where my eyes and ears were pretty much popping out of my head based upon the size of the whole thing. It showed me things I’d never seen before, and that’s one of the reasons I go to the movies. (Maybe one of the things it showed me was what a disaster movie made by Ed Wood with $250 million, a good cast, and great tech guys, but that was part of the charm.)

Yay A Single Man.
Also sort of Glee, though mostly Lea Michele. As a show, 30 Rock is funnier, better-written, and more consistent.
