    Aww go Gabby – Really I think there is a strong undercurrent of support for her, which could be more passionate then the support Mulligan or (forgive me) Streep may enjoy.

    @nel,

    this are the Florida Film Critics. Not even a major critics’ group. Let’s not forget that the Oscars are voted by the Academy, not critics. And Meryl and Carey both have bigger support from the critics, with Meryl being the only one of the three to win a major critics’ group so far.

    @Ross

    I completely understand what you are saying but I am a bit of a fan girl when it comes to Gabby. I think if she fitted the profile of a bright young thing, she would be the young pretender this year and not Mulligan. However I think it is interesting that three disparate critics groups have voted for her. I also know that the academy can go their own way (hello Sally Hawkins – who won the big three critics groups last year) and so have just have a feeling that given her performance that she could have a really strong band of supporters, who are just not as vocal as others.

    I have to admit also that I am a big Streep fan and was totally shocked when she won NY and would love her to win the Oscar as quite frankly she should be challenging Katherine Hepburn’s record and not waiting for her third Oscar.

    1. Ugh @ Sidibe. ugh ugh gross gross. Apologies to her fans…but…well…ugh.

    2. @Ross, Mulligan won Chicago, and she was runner up in LA to Michelle Whoosiewhatsit, who clearly won the “look at us we’re so different” award. This is all about Streep vs. Mulligan.

    Also, passion is cute, but you don’t get extra credit for it. One member, one vote.

    Is this the first critics group that didn’t go for Bigelow? Has Reitman won anything else?

    Reitman also won Dallas Film Crits, I think.
