It’s going to be an Oscar nominations prediction weekend, I fear. We also have the DGA to keep tabs on (Saturday). We will be writing up our predictions article at some point — but in the meantime, Richard Roeper went ahead and dove right in. My only quibble with his list is that he omits District 9 for the Best Pic lineup – and I think it’s definitely IN. Anyway, here is his Best Pic list (I have bolded the ones I think are in for sure):

I am still not sure Up makes it. I think it probably will for a variety of reasons. I may end up predicting it as well. But I’m not sure. And I’m not sure about A Serious Man. The others, I think it’s a bingo.
As far as Best Actor goes, if Viggo manages to make it in the Best Actor lineup – he has to bump someone. So, figuring out which of the five gets bumped is the key. I have to say that usually the five remain the five. So expect the five. Similarly, if Emily Blunt is to crack the Best Actress lineup, one has to figure which of the five are going to get tossed.
