Great Short. A unique way to tell a love story; easily better than 90% of the love stories told each year.

Nice. I will make a point to watch it later. A free Spike Jonze short is worth a half-hour of my life, easy.

I wonder how different Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are with Kate Winslet (Titanic) in the role of Max’s mother?

I thought that was a sentimental hoaky piece of science fiction which contributed very little to either sci-fi or romance in terms of genre. Why create the novum of androids if they are essentially just (mildly) oppressed humans who can detach limbs (e.g. she breathed after they recesitated her?! They went to a hospital?!)? Not a whole lot of empirical thinking went into this piece, it seems.

I’m normally a fan of Jonze, but this, I thought, was a waste of an interesting concept: can a machine be programmed to feel love? Does being made to feel love actually constitute true affection?

Am I missing something? Please prove me wrong (which is often nice to re-watch something under different lenses and see a completely different film).

    Thanks!

Is the short for US citizens only. I get to the frontpage, where I have to state that I am more than 18. But how do I proceed from there. There’s no “Enter” button or something similar.

Edit: OK, you just have to push the “Return/Enter” button on your keyboard.

    *SPOILERS*

i got what you are saying, i for once, liked it very much, you have to think that they live in a world in which both men and robots live simulteniusly, so they probably have “clinics” for robots too “i robot anyone?”…
I enjoyed the short very much, but at the end it wasnt that profound to me anymore… after losing an arm, a leg an then her entire body in make her character completly idiotic, and his character completly submissive? i dont know… the ending was too predictable, once you know he goes to the hospital you KNOW hes going to give her his entire body…
Other than that i thought it was beatufully shot, and pretty romantic… but it could have worked if they have portrayed the characters diferently at the end.

Can we have, at last, an Academy Award Winner Spike Jonze?

I mean, what does he has to do?

    I second Jesus Alonso’s statement.

Is this eligible for Best Short Film, because it’d be nice to see it in the running for next year’s Oscars. Maybe the Academy will give it to Jonze as an apology for completely snubbing “Where the Wild Things Are”
