I’ve been reading comments here and there on the web about Rachel McAdams, how she’s supposed to have “made it big” by now, or that her career is going to be over in five years, or whatever. That’s poppycock.¬† You are dealing with a Mean Girl, people. And Mean Girls always bounce back. Even Lindsay will bounce back, you wait and see. McAdams is always good, but more than that – she’s got something in her that promises a career of versatility. I want to see her start taking on really challenging material because I know she’s up to it.¬† Here is a featurette for Morning Glory, which looks — perhaps not exactly Oscar-worthy — but the kind of movie you whip out when you want to visit your old friends. There is a line from a Bob Dylan song, Brownsville Girl, that says “I’m standing in the line to see a movie starring Gregory Peck. I know it’s not the one that I had in mind. He’s got a new one out now. I don’t even know what it’s about. But I’ll see him in anything, so I’ll stand in line.” Diane Keaton, maybe even Harrison Ford, are worth standing in line in the rain to see. And this looks funny on top of that.
