We knew the rumors sounded solid, but it’s good to hear from somebody who knows for certain. Jamie Foxx tells CNN he’ll be taking the lead role in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained. Foxx also confirms that Leonardo DiCaprio is cast as the villainous slave owner Calvin Candie, and Samuel L. Jackson as Candie’s overseer and head house-slave Stephen. (via FilmStage) As reported weeks ago, Christoph Waltz will play Dr. King Schultze, the German bounty hunter who becomes Django’s mentor in his pursuit of vengeance. Skip to 0:50 in the clip below to hear for yourself, but don’t expect any deeper details than those we already know.
Intrigued.
I should really go watch Pulp Fiction now…

Guys, I think we’re missing the bigger news here:
Selena Gomez could play that one chick in the Sex and the City prequel.

It’s also kind of funny that DiCaprio will now be starring in a film with the man who robbed him of an Oscar for ‘The Aviator’.

I will never be a Jamie Foxx fan after how rude he was to me personally when we both attended a social event at an American embassy overseas. He was insulting to the embassy staff as well.
One of the only actors I openly dislike.

I guess it’s truly official now.
I’m not ready to jump on the Jamie Foxx hate train just yet, though I can see why people might not like him personally. However, as an actor, I think he has given several fine performances, from ‘Ray’ to ‘Collateral’, ‘The Soloist’ and ‘Jarhead’, even ‘Ali’ and ‘Any Given Sunday’; I hardly think he’s a bad actor. I’m willing to give him a chance, and more importantly, I trust Quentin Tarantino. He doesn’t cast anyone without good reason. His films are all expertly cast, and he has a keen sense of casting unexpected actors in meaty roles (John Travolta, Sam Jackson, and Uma Thurman in ‘Pulp Fiction’, Pam Grier and Robert Forster in ‘Jackie Brown’, Lucy Liu, David Carradine and Uma Thurman in ‘Kill Bill’, Christoph Waltz, Melanie Laurent, and Michael Fassbender in ‘Inglourious Basterds, etc.).
I’m always ready to wince at Tarantino casting news too, Tye-Gre. But something interesting happens to The Biggest Of Oversized Personalities in Tarantino movies. Somehow all the unusual ingredients get folded smoothly into the whole recipe.
