Fricken L-YES for the Ronan love! Wonderful pleasant surprise. St. Louis, I LOVE ya! (:
Wow so great to see Alan Rickman’s name in the mix. I haven’t seen Drive yet. Was also thinking Alexandre Desplat’s score for Deathly Hallows, Best Cinematogrophy (that movie was stunning) and best scene (Snape’s Memories!) I could watch that scene 100 times. I’m happy for all the ‘don’t have a chance at the Oscars’ people’s favs that got recognized. Cheers!
(re: Redgrave & Coriolanus) “I think they simply haven’t seen the movie yet.”
Shakespeare is a tough sell – even to critics. Most people hated it in school and avoid it like the plague as adults. It’s a shame, really. Out of all the plays that have been filmed with some rich performances but few oscar noms and, I could be wrong, but I think only Olivier has won an acting oscar.
Considering that all the Movies nominated for Best Film (except for my week with Marilyn) have their directors nominated for best director
It’s odd to me that they nominated Fincher for Best Director but they didn’t nominate TGWTDT for Best Film
Wonderful to see Alan Rickman in the mix.
I wonder . . . . has this organization seen “Coriolanus” yet?
Is that the reason why Redgrave keeps getting unnoticed in their lists?
With her powerful performance, only the San Francisco critics have chosen her thus far. I don’t think it’s a backlash – I think they simply haven’t seen the movie yet.
I would have exchanged Drive’s cinematography nomination with Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, Part 2. After watching it for the first time last week, I noticed how beautiful and underrated it’s cinematography is.
Alan Rickman was amazing Snape.
Thanks to this particular critics’ group for remembering one of the better and most charismatic performances of the year. Saoirse rocks!
My hometown! Please do not pick the descendants, I feel it is very overrated. I haven’t seen The Artist or My Week With Marilyn. Also digging the Hanna and Drive love here!
Kirsten Dunst 🙁
Can we stop it with the “fanboy” term please? It’s so insulting
I second the motion. *raises hand*
Ryan Gosling for Drive
Gary Oldman for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
The people of St. Louis are obviously super smart. 🙂
So far my favorite list of nominations yet.
phantom your words on Blanchett made my morning 😉
Finally!! Someone remembers ‘Hanna’, and more importantly the amazing work by Saoirse Ronan in it. I think she definitely gave one of the year’s best performances. And I like the love for Blanchett too. ‘Drive’ continues to build momentum… I’m really hoping that it can sneak into the Oscars for Best Picture, Actor, and Director.
Is The Desencents Comedy or Drama at the Globes? If it comedy along with the Arist I’m starting wonder if Drive can not only be nomation but win Best Drama?
Cant believe that “A seperation” is not even being
Nominated for the best foreign movie…!!!
Anyway I really hope they choose Meryl Streep
Finally…!!!
aaaaaaaaaaaaa TGWTDT!!!
PARRTAAAYYY
Now these are some picks that I can stand behind. Best critics noms yet! Love all the support for Hannah, MMMM, Drive, and Dragon Tattoo.
Elizabeth Olsen should not be left out of any nominations.
Gary Oldman! That is all 🙂
Amazing to see Rickman!
Finally Fincher !
The fact that this group recognised the amazing star turns by Ryan Gosling and Saorise Ronan made my morning.
Also OVERJOYED they recognised Cate Blanchett, one of the most underrated, BEST Performances of the year. Still my favourite supporting performance of the year, indefinintely.
WOW Hanna! By the way Sasha/Ryna Meryl Streep is on the January cover of Vogue. Pretty incredible! http://www.vogue.com
FINALLY someone acknowledged that Cate Blanchett gave one of the BEST female supporting performances this year, and Saoirse Ronan should be also a much stronger Lead Actress contender than she is at the moment.
It’s also great to see Alan Rickman getting some love.
great to see hanna gettin recognition
Then I remembered that John Goodman is from St. Louis.
WOW! interesting choices. Potter should have been nominated in best cinematography and best music as well. I just wanted them to acknowledge Potter. Anyways, Good choices indeed.
Can we stop it with the “fanboy” term please? It’s so insulting and one of the reasons I’ve lashed out at Jeremie so much. Anyways, yay for Rickman…finally!
They didn’t love Hugo down in St. Louis huh. But yay for Alan Rickman!
Finally we see a mention for Mara in Dragon Tattoo…some solid choices there St. Louis
finally some love for TGWDT
Finally some love for Alan Rickman!
And Gleen Close, nothing yet. R.I.P., sadly. The nominies will be Davis, Streep, Swinton, Theron and Williams. And the battle will be Streep vs. Williams. My money is for Meryl.
and the love for Drive continues. also really nice and surprising to see several director noms for Refn. and a Ryan Gosling actor nom as well. and two scenes for Best scene. Do me good, Globes.
Completely ignored Scorcese’s creation…
Interesting choices…HP fanboys/fangirls will be very happy with these choices, except the Best Film nominees, that is…
I love it when a group has a Best Scene category. Some great choices represented here
They liked Hanna. Surprising. I hoped Melissa would be nominated. She needs critics’ love.
Loving the love for Hanna. Finally somebody remembers how great that movie is. I knew St. Louis was still allowed to exist for a reason.
