i’m not a gay, but TOM CULLEN – YEEES!!! totlly deserved. and also happy for Considine.
That’s cool for Tom Cullen. I haven’t seen the film as it hasn’t (and won’t) open here, but reviews for Weekend are fantastic. I’ll probably blind buy it once it hits Blu-ray.
MIchael Fassbender… YES!
So happy for Olivia Colman. When she won, she was thereafter trending worldwide on Twitter!
At last. An award for Redgrave.
Yay for the “Weekend” love. Truly one of the year’s best.
A great list of winners and truly a vintage year for British independent film! Excellent!!
So glad For Olivia Colman.she deserves recognition.she will not get an Oscar nomination, but the real shame is that she wont get nominated for BAFTA either, they’ll nominate the same people as American Academy.
Love the recognition for Lynne Ramsay, Weekend, Vanessa Redgrave and A Separation. I liked Tyrannosaur, so that’s not a bad choice, although I kind of wish they’d gone bolder with a choice like Senna or Kevin again. And I admire Colman’s one good scene but that’s not better than what Tilda did in her whole performance.
Any award Weekend picks up during the race, which may just be these two, I’ll be exponentially happy for. My second favorite film of the year.
Happy for Fassbender as well. Explosive performer.
I wouldn’t be surprise if the Los Angeles critics name Olivia Colman best actress.
When they named Vera Farmiga best actress in 2005, the was a collective “Who?”
When Daniel Day-Lewis won in 2007, the runner up was Frank Langella for “Starting Out in the Evening” WTF
They seem to take satisfaction on recognizing actors and movies no one was thinking about.
I was actually betting on Jeong-hee Yoon to win LA Best Actress for Poetry.
So wait. TTSS is independent independent? I’m all confused. I need help from a British person or someone who has seen it. Next week when it comes out in select cities in the US, it’s playing in what I would call an arthouse type theater closest to me. Meaning small screen and normal old seats, etc. I thought TTSS was a proper “movie” not necessarily a “film”. By “movie” I mean something with Hollywood type finishing touches that would be best viewed on a huge screen with stadium seating and a super duper sound system, etc. A “film” you could watch on your computer and it wouldn’t make a difference. I like to see movies as soon as possible but if I’m not going to get the full oomph of it by seeing it in a small room then maybe I will wait. Can anyone help me?
Redgrave all the way. Finally. A most deserved Best Supporting Actress citation.
And Ramsay getting the nod for “We Need to Talk About Kevin” nails it.
Fassbender being cited. Way to go!
I’m thrilled with this selection of winners (because they are not standard cookie-cutter selections) . . . they show some real thought in working out a citation for a well-deserved artist.
I’m thrilled that Weekend is getting some love. One of the year’s best, by far.
Side note – the site is running like a dream in Safari on my iMac. Excellent.
just saw tyrannosaur last night. blown away by it. posted the trailer on fb. and when i woke up, this news greeted me! yay!
Off Topic. The top 10 lists have started to descend.
