Walking Dead, anyone? Jon Bernthal? No? How about Jack Huston on Boardwalk Empire? No? Ugh… And I concur about Community…
No Breaking Bad nor Community?!
The fuck?
Therealmike: I totally agree with your comments on American Horror Story.
Sorry to see that John Noble continues to be ignored for his fine work on Fringe.
American Horror Story is the best new show on television this season. Glad to see it rewarded, and its crown jewel (and consumate) scene stealer, Jessica Lange nominated.
Obviously GG misses a lot of stuff but I’m so glad about American Horror Story and New Girl! Maybe they’re not the BEST shows out there, as some people seem to think, but IMO they’re the best new shows of this year.
American Horror Story instead of Breaking Bad… credibility…gone
where is Betty White?
OK. So…yes to boring Johnny Galecki and no to genius Jim Parsons??? WTF????? SHAME ON YOU GOLDEN GLOBES!!!!!!
Breaking Bad wasn’t nominated, but American Horror Story was.
That tells you all you need to know about the Golden Globes.
Wow. No Breaking Bad, strike 1. No John Noble in supporting, Strike 2. No Bryan Cranston, Strike 3. No Fringe in Drama, Strike 4. I could strike out the side with these nominations and it still wouldn’t emphasize how weak most of these nominations are.
@Pablo: Homeland IS really that good. It’s as good as Games of Thrones, and better than every other show except BB (I’ve not seen Boss yet). You should see it 😀
Not seeing Community or Parks is a shame too.
Anyway as you say, they can nominated whatever they want, except forget to nominate Breaking Bad, by far the best show this year. (The seasons was too perfect and great compared with the other shows, including the great GoT and Homeland).
@Leocdc: Breaking Bad was the best thing on television this year. Period.I cannot believe how any other series got nominated. “American Horror Story” I love that show, but it´s a guilty pleasure because actually it´s kinda bad. I love Jessica Lange´s character but I never would have nominated her for anything because it´s so over the top and silly.
The comedy series category is another thing. Modern Family is the only show that deserves to be nominated. Glee got bad. New Girl is okay. Episodes is a welcome surprise but was not that good. I´ver never heard of Enlightened.
I mean where are Parks and Recreation, The Big C, The Big Bang Theory etc. It´s a shame.
I never use “bad words” but
How in Hell Breaking Bad is not nominated as best drama?
GG again has lost any respect for me.
i think it’s an adventurous list–more so than the film nods, at least. what’s most interesting is that they snubbed jim parsons for johnny galecki. i do hate the way all the supporting categories are lumped together though
Glad to see Kelsey Nominated. Boss is amazing!
No Breaking Bad. Shame.
And people complain about the Emmys. They are always WAY better than the Globes. How can the highest rated show on Metacritic miss a drama series nomination?
The comedy category is even more ridiculous…
Glee and New Girl over Parks and Rec?? REALLY? I like New Girl, but come on Parks is the most consistent show on tv.
Glee is dying! Yay!
Im glad with Zooey Deschanel’s nom, the girl is always great on her projects.
I havent seen Homeland… Is it that good ?
No Margo Martindale 🙁
I love that Sofia Vergara was named but Julie should be there with her.
Woah…the TV dramas are all from cable. Is network TV really that bad these days?!
Jessica Lange hammmmmssss it up. How she got in and the Emmy-winning Margo Martindale, nor Walter Goggins for that matter did not for Justified is just mind blowing.
Also, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… SHAME on the Emmys, GGs, AND SAG awards for not nominating Sean Bean for Game of Thrones. Anyone who watches the show/has read the books knows why. I expect future nominations for Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, the guy who plays Jamie whose name I can never remember, and the potentially the girl who plays Arya. That is if these guilds can ever see past the ENSEMBLE thing and highlight the standouts. Hell, maybe even Stephen Dillane next year if he is amazing as Davos or the girl playing Brienne. Maybe even the actor playing Littlefinger, who I just realized was also brilliant on The Wire. So much room for brilliant acting. Let’s hope that the awarding bodies don’t keep snubbing the highlights, save for Peter Dinklage.
Louie…o-ver-ra-ted. CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP.
Yay for Enlightened, American Horror Story, Boss, Revenge, and Homeland!!!! I love this year’s Golden Globes.
How can Breaking Bad not be nominated for Best Drama? Just…how?!
These nominations are silly.
Glad to see Homeland and Claire Danes nominated, though. Very deserved.
How on earth did the most acclaimed show of 2011 not get nominated for Best Drama???
Where the hell is Breaking Bad?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Yay, Madeleine Stowe! BOO, why no love for Julie Bowen at these awards. Love Sofia Vergara too, but come on, we know what you’re doing.
The comedy list in a travesty…Glee is nowhere near the quality that Parks & Rec (or Communnity, my favorite, but is always a lost cause) is, yet the Hollywood Foreign Press must suckle at the public’s teat…
Hell, Community’s episode making fun of Glee was better than any Glee episode all season
Kudos to Jessica Lange for her SAG and GG nods. She is the best thing on television right now.
Sad no Katey Segal for Sons of Anarchy 🙁
I didn’t even know Kelsey Grammer was on a show. F*ck this sh*t. I’m going back to bed.
Antoinette, I almost let Boss slip past the radar too.
I didn’t realize it was being braodcast until 3 weeks in, but was able to catch up
It’s absolutely one of the best series on TV. It’s 8 episodes the first season — already all aired, but they’ll be on again, surely.
It’d been picked up for a second season. I saw one critic compare it to Deadwood set in modern day Chicago. It’s terrific. Highly recommended. My favorite new series on TV this year.
Cinema Verite and Diane Lane should both win. One of my favorites from the year.
