Thank god someone nominated Contagion’s script and ensemble. Completely overlooked in these precursors.

Nice again to see Melancholia and Dunst in the mix, as well as Martha Marcy May Marlene.

  • Finally a critics group that embraced the understated brilliance that was Glenn Close’s heartbreaking performance in ‘Albert Nobbs’.
It is also nice to see Judy Greer in the mix, she nailed her one – and only – big scene, the hospital-confrontation. I read somewhere speculations that Woodley might have lost the SAG-nod because she split votes with the popular, but under-the-radar/underrated/’veteran’ actress, Judy Greer. She is my NGNG-pick for Supporting Actress.

    Go ROONEY!

  • Yashar R

Wow, really really REALLY like their choices. They showed some much needed love to MMMM as well as some well deserved love to Margin Call, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Contagion.

    octavia spencer? whereforartthou?

  • Craig Z

Bafta longlist. Is out. Tree of Life and HP both missed out…….. So naturally this place is gonna explode.

  • Nily

    Rooney & Margin call aww

  • Will

You go, Ms. Close! In my mind the best performance of the year.

  • Awk I wanted credit for this 🙁

Never mind. On their website, they list their nominations in an order which I can only deduce as being the order in which they placed from the nomination process: http://denverfilmcritics.org/718/uncategorized/denver-film-critics-society-2012-award-nominations/#more-718

    Glad to see Glenn!

  • John

That awkward moment when you lose all your credibility by nominating Ryan Gosling for Crazy Stupid Love and not for Drive (or even Ides of March).

  • Tory Smith

Finally some overbearing love for Martha Marcy May Marlene!!! Why is that film not popping up more on people’s top ten lists and things?! It was the Best film of the year, artistically!

  • Andrew Sidhom

The Denver Film Critics Society consists of… 9 people. Just pointing that out.

  • bd74

So nice to see Glenn Close among the Best Actress nominees, and even nicer that Viola and Michelle weren’t included.

  • Casey

@bd74 couldn’t agree more! Hoping the oscars will leave them off too

    Olivia Colman
    Tilda Swinton
    Kirsten Dunst
    Ellen Barkin
    Glenn Close

  • Brooke Cale

Puh-leeze. I live in Denver, and we have like 1 film critic, who is HORRIBLE. So, I can’t even take these seriously.

  • Roel

This nomination list is ridiculous………..no Michelle Williams, Tilda Swinton, Octavia Spencer or Viola Davis……what an awful list….I hope the Oscars do not decide to leave out some of these great performances to clear the road for Meryl Streep to win her third or Glenn Close her first Oscar. The supporting actress list is even worse. Octavia Spencer was a revelation is certainly 10 times better than some little girl in Decendents and Melissa McCarthy, please…….

I thought the winners were to be announced yesterday? Anyone know what happened?
