It’s not so bad for me. This is my first cycle of feeling the trapdoor drop open under my feet. I was lucky enough to begin this ride when the roller-coaster was climbing the peak of The Departed, No Country, The Hurt Locker years. The past two seasons have been a brutal reality check. Sasha has endured far more ups and downs than I’ve seen.
I was playing around doodling last night and put this together with the intention of sending to Sasha on Oscar night. (believe it or not, offstage I’m not all doom and gloom.)
Then this morning Sasha tweeted:
“Happy Oscar weekend. Our work here in the Grizzly Maze is almost done. The bears have (mostly) gone into winter sleep. All over but the–”
So that offered a good opening to connect our two parallel “maze” adventures.
We figured we’d share the inside joke.

Amen, sister. It has never felt MORE like swimming up to the bottom. Was there EVER a year when SO many Oscar mavens felt so discouraged? But as the song says, “we’ll escape the darkness — we won’t be searching anymore!” Right? Right?

Beth, the reason there’s no mouse to represent you is because you’ve been smart enough to take the safe way around, outside the walls of the maze.

Heh. I would never presume to maze sharing, although if I did happen to get trapped in one, I’d grab hold and follow you and Sasha to freedom. Or Cannes. Or grizzlies… (eek!)

Rather than morning after, I would say it’s inevitable that there is a mourning after. What goes up has to come down.

The self-congratulation on this post is so appalling that it’s almost comic.

Yes Bharat, I see – but we’ll just have to wait and see if she can still play the guitar.
After 13 years, do you guys ever think you’re stuck in Groundhog Day – the Home Edition?
steve50, ha!

Mattoc — making me smile all day long.
Hope you’re kicking back with us here Sunday night. We’ll need you standing by for EMS therapy.
It’s Monday for me Ryan – and I’ll be working. I’ll be right as rain for the after party/massacre. All hands on deck.
