  1. Shailene Woodley and Rooney Maara are virtuosos? After what 2-3 films each??

    Absurd.

  4. Melissa McCarthy was supposed to be there to get one but she is sick and opted not to go. I think they still talked about her anyway.

  5. @red_wine: Yeah, they are totally virtuosos. Both nailed very difficult roles and showcased immense talents. After seeing The Graduate and Midnight Cowboy would you have said “Eh, Hoffman’s not so great. He’s only been in two movies?”

  7. I love Rooney Mara’s righteous side-eye in the group shot.

  8. I wonder how Shailene Woodley felt sitting up there after not being nominated for an Oscar. Being so young and being touted as such a sure thing, I’m sure she must have been devastated, and I can only imagine how much it affected her every time someone else was introduced as “Oscar nominee.”

Good one, Jesse. Veteran and virtuoso are not interchangeable and one has no relevance to the other.

  10. Shailene Woodley was good but not awards notable. Kind of like Anna Kendrick, people feel the urge to nominate any young actress who can keep up with Clooney but that’s assuming Clooney is some extraordinary actor. He’s good but not great.

Even this award she doesn’t deserve. I would give it to Elizabeth Olsen for MMMM. Lizzie was excellent in her breakthrough performance and someone I wouldn’t have any problems betting on for future great performances.
