Nicole and Mia are the in the headline for eye-grabs. I was going to begin this intro by joking” “with Matthew Goode as Uncle Charlie” — but then I see that’s no joke. The nod to Shadow of a Doubt is none too subtle. I tingle to think what Hitchcock would have been to do if he never had to worry about mid-century American Codes of Morality.
After India’s (Mia Wasikowska’s) father dies in an auto accident, her Uncle Charlie (Matthew Goode), who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother Evelyn (Nicole Kidman). Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him.
I don’t have anything to add that hasn’t been commented by everyone before me…just had to agree with all! Can’t wait for all these movies from my favorite actor Nicole Kidman.
Nicole Kidman is a legend in her own right, If I see her on the street I will bow down. Her intro in this trailer brough chills down my spine and made me gasp and this is only from three seconds in a trailer.
Can’t wait for Paperboy and Stoker what a treat from her.
I have to hand it to clint mancell he nails the soundtrack I find myself rewatching the trailer just to listen to symphonies and themes he’s concoted.
Nicole could possibly retire as the greatest ever australian actor/actress. I could see her giving great performances well into her late 60s, she just has that feel about her.
Lots of stiff competition ofcourse, including from arguably more talented contemporaries in the likes of Rush & Blanchette, but Kidman’s entire body of work is shaping into something beautiful. She might not have the all-time performances of some others, but her great performances are becoming ever more prolific.
Is this the one with the screenplay written by Wentworth Miller?
First Southern trashy blonde in The Paperboy now this. Loves it! Can’t wait to see both films. Nicole Kidman is a goddess. Bow down. 😀
I, like Paddy M, will watch this trailer at least 5 times a day. It’s so wonderful to come to awardsdaily, or go to (ugh…) her imdb page… and actually see some really great comments again. She’s swung back into the heights of public opinion. This makes me very happy. Very happy, indeed.
I can’t wait for all of these movies. Give me all of them. Right now. Hook them up to my veins. I picture myself going to the early show… hiding away somewhere.. and sneaking into the second showing…. oh, my life is about to get so great.
I love that when you think Kidman is going all bananas, what with Paperboy and Stoker, she follows these two films with two very academy-friendly ones, The Railway Man (WWII!) and Grace of Monaco (Hollywood Legend!), just to remind us that she’s never one to do the same thing over and over again.
I give this an A+
Looks like a ton of dark fun!
God Nicole Kidman is amazing!!
And great to see Jackie weaver again!!!
This looks awesome! Park Chan-wook (let us put his name in the proper order) is a master who has yet to make a bad or even weak-ish film (Thirst was just a little long).
Loved this trailer. Daddy long legs creeping upwards? Talk about ominous symbolism.
And yes, I’d rather have Nicole spew venomous dialogue than slur a southern accent while peeing on Zac Efron. She shines in roles like this, her reputation will thank her.
Clint Mansell scoring, which I just found out by reading the comments here, is like extra icing on an already delicious cake. Fuckin’ A.
This is bananas! 🙂 I can’t wait for the movie to be released, the actors look at theirr best.
Team Nicole!
Oh Nicole, I´ve miss you so much!
I greatly admire the choices that Mia Wasikowska is making in her career. She varies and mixes it in a way the reminds me of Evan Rachel Wood. I see Oscar in her future .
Glad to see Jacki Weaver getting around, but is she being killed in that phone booth or … something else?
surprisingly awesome! I cant wait for this. A storyline thats completely intriguing, performances that already look really good, and great cinematography makes this movie one to watch! Im in.
Hopefully Matthew Goode will shine in this film. He was quite good in his brief appearances in A Single Man and Match Point and I hope this gives him a chance to get more roles. Overall the trailer peaked my interest.
Love how the movement of the piano keys has been synchronised with the piano on the soundtrack. It’s not the right notes but it’s an effective touch.
This looks really good. Didn’t know Clint Mansell composed the score, that is a plus. Also, the cinematography and the cast look top-notch.
Looks good!! I’m def looking forward to it.
Blasphemy Colin Biggs hahaha……Chan-wook Park could do no wrong.
I like to second Paddy M comments about Nicole. The Goddess is back in full force. There is nothing like ICY Nicole Kidman. I love when she plays characters like this.
I guess I just don’t get the fanfare for Chan-wook Park.
If her father is dead, why is he getting third billing?
Oh Nicole…
I want to see this now – I don’t want to have to wait until March. Probs gonna watch this trailer about five times a week between now and then, but I don’t want to know a single thing further about this film until I see it. Stoked, appropriately!
Also, Nicole. Nicole Nicole Nicole. NICOLE!
