Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee and author Yann Martel will sit down with Film Society of Lincoln Center Program Director Richard Peña for a discussion of the film adaptation of Martell’s Man Booker Prize-winning book LIFE OF PI on Friday, September 28 at 12:00pm (ET). LIFE OF PI is the Opening Night film of the 50th New York Film Festival. The film hits theaters November 21, 2012 via 20th Century Fox.
Ang Lee must be happy that his film is opening up the 50th New York Film Festival. I think this Life of Pi or Argo will be movie of the year.
I’ve read the reviews and a couple refer to a flat ending. I can say with full confidence that the stronger your faith the more you will like the ending.
Yeah, the reviews I saw on Rotten Tomatoes are all pretty strong, with 6 of the 8 being extremely strong.
I think this might be the first Sure Bet Best Pic movie of the year. (I think Argo or Silver Linings Playbook) might have been the first, but not sure.) The book is so well-loved, I can’t imagine that the books fans won’t embrace the movie as well.
I think there are others that are likely if the list is long, but I’m operating under the premise that there might only be 5.
^ I know, when there’s a purpose for it I don’t mind, and in this case bringing to life aspects deemed “unfilmable”
If only they filmed Shame in ‘feel-a-round’…
From what I’m hearing/reading out of NY, Lee has managed the impossible – turning this great book into a stunning movie. HuffP and HWReporter both like it, among others. Sounds like 3D is good for things other than just action.
Indiewire, Variety and THR have all given the film a positive write up.
^It got a bunch of postive impressions in the Twitterverse, but they might be a bunch of nobodies, so who cares
Sasha just gave a huge rave to the film on Facebook, so now I’m stoked
