Mrs. Gump was an exceptional mother, but it looks like Sally Field is that, too.
Bravo Sally. How lucky Sam is to have such a wonderful Mom.
Sally rocks!
If Jones wins another Oscar I’ll hit something and hit it hard.
IF the buzz is right, I will have this as frontrunner in following categories:
PICTURE
DIRECTOR
ADAPTED SCREENPLAY
SUPPORTING ACTOR (Tommy Lee Jones)
ORIGINAL SCORE
COSTUME DESIGN
Costume Designer Joanna Johnston has never been nominated, btw. And she’s a household name. Man, Spielberg would have 5 Oscars if this took two of the top prizes.
Apparently it’s not over-long. Someone said it clocked in at 2hrs 25mins.
Well, it’s clear that some people love it and it will likely sail to a Best Pic nomination. But then I’m not used to reading twitter reactions from premieres. Maybe some of the enthusiasm is because of the event and presence of the celebrities. But the praise isn’t universal so I’m not sure if it can ride the momentum to a win.
Yeah, they say Tommy Lee steals the show from DDL (!?!), so I’d say he’s a sure-nominee, but can he win another Supporting Actor Oscar? I guess enough time has passed since The Fugitive.
That bogus story of the guy who allegedly saw the film did not single him out, I think. Only Hal Holbrook.
Great ensemble piece and a frontrunner for SAG Ensemble, for sure. But some also say the film is too talky and too political. No battle scenes, really. The battle scenes take place indoors. I’d like that idea.
Seeing a mixed reaction on Twitter, Tero, but it sounds like Spielberg is making his audience listen and think for a change, which is a good thing. Haven’t seen any “big” names check in with their reactions, yet, though.
(kind of) OT : Twitter reactions from the Lincoln NYFF Screening
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0443272/board/thread/205470486
Tommy Lee Jones is getting singled out A LOT, so between this and Hope Springs, could he actually be having a career-best year ? If Lincoln hits the right notes with the Academy, he could EASILY score a supporting actor nomination.
Anyway, early word is promising, reviews will be interesting to see now.
Thanks for posting! 🙂
Do you think something like this can boost or hurt chances?
Really excited about Lincoln getting great reception. It looks like it could be the most nominated film with 12 or 13.
Much better than her Oscar “you really like me” speech…hehehe…Luv her!!
twitter is telling me that people are going nanners over LINCOLN at NYFF. Are any of our AD brethren there?
I love this. They both give good speech.
