Sasha Stone has been around the Oscar scene since 1999. Almost everything on this website is her fault.

We all know that the real stars of Les Miz are the Thenadiers, Eponine. Valjean, and Fantine.
Too much Photoshop. Not good.
Surprised there is no Eponine or Marius poster as they are just as important of characters as any. Guess they figure the actors behind them won’t bring in business, but to me having at least 2 experienced musical theater actors in Barks and Redmayne is one of the biggest draws.
Casey , sorry buddy, but Anne Hathaway is much more talented than Amanda Seyfried. You are sounding like a hater. I don’t expect Hathaway to receive an Oscar nomination for TDKR ( even though she was very good in the part). I agree the Oscar campaigns for her roles in TDKR and Les Miserables will highlight her versatility and range- and the great year she has had. This will give her the edge over her competition in the Supporting Actress category. Anne is winning the Oscar next year.
Does anyone else think these posters make them look like they’re part of the next Twilight movie?
“They are going to campaign for Catwoman? Why don’t the other studios join in, start an Oscar campaign for The Hulk in Avengers, the android David in Prometheus, The Lizard in The Amazing Spiderman and each of the dwarfs from Mirror, Mirror + Snow White and the Huntsman while we are at it…
^
“Honesty time everyone. Yes Heath Ledger’s performance was stellar in TDK but his untimely death was what lead to his nomination and won him the Oscar. Otherwise they don’t give out nominations or Oscars to actors playing comic book characters. As if they would shut out Helen Mirren in Hitchcock for Catwoman!”

Boy oh boy, the ultra-elitism doesn’t just seep through, it’s crashing through at warp factor gazillion.
^
Why shouldn’t TDKR and for that matter The Avengers submit their top acting performances for nomination? I’d push to the moon the following actors if I were WB and Paramount:
TDKR
Actor: Bale
Actress: Hathaway
S. Actor: Any combo of Hardy, Gordon-Levitt or Oldman
^^
The Avengers
Actor: Downey Jr.
S. Actor: any combo of Ruffalo, Hiddleston or Hemsworth
^^
And as for Mirren, let’s hope she doesn’t get a nomination because her name is Helen Mirren, working on a TV-movie masquerading as a feature with a lead actor that looks ZERO, ZILCH, NADA like Alfred Hitchcock. Actors from critical and fan blockbusters have every last legit right to be allowed to compete for Oscar just as much as the upscale arthouse circuit film does.
Strange that they didn’t include a one-sheet for Samantha Barks, no?
No actor from The Dark Knight Rises will be nominated. The film is already “forgotten”. It didn’t have the critical impact that the 2nd did – no one thought it was better than the previous installment, so that sort of killed its thunder.
The only good thing for Hathaway about Warner Bros. announcing that she was a lead in DKR is that there will be less of a vote split for her between her two movies – not that she would ever get in for DKR over Les Misérables. No matter how bad the film is, the role ticks every box. If Penélope Cruz can get nominated for one of the worst musicals in movie history (Nine), Hathaway should have no problem getting nominated for being poor, ugly pretty, a prostitute, a mother, all singing – and last but not least how she exists the movie/story. It all fits perfectly. It’s just worth noting still that it was Samantha Barks’ part that won most of the awards back then, not the Tony. Is she a Jennifer Hudson waiting to happen? She is the tragic female lead of the second half of the story, Hathaway is the tragic female lead of the first half. Will Barks be powerful enough to be the won the voters remember since all her scenes come after Hathaway has left the film? She is THE wild card. If she’s amazing, then there’s nothing like ‘a star is born’! 🙂
Just found out Les Miserables has no dialog. EVERYTHING is sung by non-singers. I can’t remember the last time that was great, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg? Sung-through films tend to be rather emotionally-distant films, will the Academy go for that?
Campaigning Anne Hathaway as lead in TDKR is a great move. It reminds people of her prominent presence this year as an actress and will help her win for Les Miz.
Catwoman is not happening, but that’s how the studios work: “For Your Consideration in ALL categories – including BEST PICTURE” and then a ton of names below it. To show that they have a strong film. That’s pretty much the only way to get 6-8 nominations even when it misses the bigger ones.
Basic Academy stuff. You’ve seen the Variety ads, for sure.
Catwoman? Lead? This year? No chance.
It wasn’t exactly Louise Fletcher in Cuckoo’s Nest or Winslet in The Reader. Those were technically supporting performances strong enough to go lead. But not Catwoman.
It’s important to remember that while Hathaway was good as catwoman, Ledger was great as The Joker. To compare the two is close to insanity.
Jerry, Heath would have been nominated for Dark Knight if he had lived. Having the previous Best Actor nod would gave insured that.

I feel second hand embarrassed for poor Anne with this news, it makes her look greedy and desparate. She should put her energy into campaigning only for Les Mis and tell WB to fuck off, don’t confuse the voters girl.
Late word: WB is submitting Hathaway in lead actress for The Dark Knight Rises: http://www.hitfix.com/in-contention/anne-hathaway-tom-hanks-and-halle-berry-get-lead-oscar-pushes-for-dark-knight-rises-and-cloud-atlas. A logical choice, as Hathaway was the female lead while Cotillard was supporting. Good move, Warners.
Isn’t Anne Hathaway’s character Fantine supposed to be a poor factory worker? She looks like a rich society girl in that poster. And the two ladies don’t look like they are in period costume like the two guys before (Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe). Still better than the creepy kid with crazy eyes from the first poster. There must be a method to the madness of these poster designs that I don’t get.
I fixed it. Now their nostrils are more soulful.
Oh shit, Cosette and Fantine seem to have the same hair color. What is happening.
Well, they don’t look at all miserable to me. At least the guys looked all frowny and concerned about something.
How I wish Amanda Seyfried would be in Oscar buzz over Hathaway…. I much prefer her.
Oh well, we have Lovelace next year
There is a theme in those posters to make the characters look like puppies with big sorry eyes.
Could that be Hopper’s new gimmick? After fisheyes, puppies eyes? Exciting.
