I agree with Bill W. that Silver Linings is not that great. Your Sister’s Sister is a better film.
@ nic v – I saw Silver Linings – it wasn’t all that incredible
Does this affect The Master’s Oscar chances one way or another? I feel like it needed this win but I could just be mistaken. As much as I LOVED Moonrise, I was really hoping for PTA to jump on stage and accept an award. :/ #saddenedPTAfanboy
Well-deserved wins for Your Sister’s Sister, Moonrise Kingdom, Beasts, and How to Survive a Plague. Wonder if the latter has any Oscar traction? When does the doc shortlist get announced?
How ignorant! ^^
There seems to be here a very interesting situation. How is it that Your Sister’s Sister beats out Silver Lining Playbook for best ensemble when for the last two weeks all we’ve heard is how incredible Silver Lining is? I’ve seen the trailer for Your Sister’s Sister and honestly it looks good and I like the cast. But if Silver Lining has all these locks on stuff as we’ve been reading how did they loose this one?
And I’m sorry but Moonrise Kingdom gimme a break. A live action version of The Fantasic Mr. Fox.
I would love to see Zeitlin take one of those best director spots, simply because the movie was super good and he did an amazing job.
I really liked Your Sister’s Sister. To me it’s more ensembley than Moonrise Kingdom.
Your Sister’s Sister was deserving. The cast did a great job. I wish Rosemarie Dewitt would receive an Oscar nomination for her performance. I thought she was really terrific.
Moonrise Kingdom beats The Master? Really Surprising! And Quvenzhane Wallis Loses to the lady from Middle of Nowhere? And Your Sisters Sister wins best ensemble? I kind of like their random but creative choices.
yay! i’m happy Emayatzy Corineald got the award over Q. Wallis who in my opinion, was better directed by than acted.
How much do these awards mean in the bigger picture, though? It’s nice that the wealth was spread around, but will this make an iota of difference once the big guns start rolling out next month?
Looks like each award went to a different film. Cool! Does anyone know if that’s common for Gotham?
Go BEASTS! Still hoping that it’s the little film that could.
Beasts got what it deserved; Best Directing.
And I am glad that little girl didnt win for just being a little girl. Happy for Middle of Nowhere.
Surprised about Your Sister’s Sister, even though all three performances were good
Go Beasts, the comeback kid! I will be so disappointed if this little film doesn’t make the final 10.
Thrilled for Beasts! Good for Moonrise Kingdom. I’m not as keen on the movie as many are, but I do hope it’s awards chances rise with this win.
BEASTS!
Best Feature.
The ads are beginning to eat the internet again. I know it’s the time of year but I’ve got a whole new computer since last year and it’s still sticky.
What did Moonrise win?
Woah. Moonrise Kingdom. Rising from the ashes. Go you.
Oh come on, I can’t stand Damon but I would have done a nicer speech than that. Pfft.
Have a sneaking suspicion that Middle of Nowhere will beat The Master. Makes perfect sense. The Master and Moonrise Kingdom would be pointless for them to award.
One second Billy Crudup was talking and then there was this blonde lady saying nothing. Did that happen to everyone else?
@Ryan: 🙂
Best Ensemble: Your Sister’s Sister? Over Moonrise Kingdom and Silver Linings? How random.
MIDDLE OF NOWHERE wins Breakthrough Actor for the female lead. This is into Sasha’s dream awards show 🙂
BEASTS rebounds, winning Best Breakthrough Director.
Artifact beats BEASTS for Audience Award’s Best Picture. Surprising. Ha, funny that he had to talk about Beasts TWICE in the acceptance speech, not believing that his own film beat it. 🙂
🙂
The Great Dane, Nice live commentary. Thanks for the help.
