The Avengers gets loves here.
Love the love from the Detroit Film Critics for Michelle William in Take this Waltz.
Ezra Miller!!! & lots of Skyfall in Phoenix!
I’m wondering how many of these smaller critic groups have seen movies like Amour and Rust and Bone. Have they seen these movies and just aren’t voting Riva and Cotillard into Best Actress, or are they not voting Riva and Cotillard because they haven’t seen their movies?
Odd that Phoenix Film Crits found room for Anthony Hopkins in lead actor (bumping Denzel and Cooper) but yet only included four lead actress contenders rather than citing Mirren as a fifth actress nominee.
Detroit managed to have the most unique but deserving nominees. Just like last year. very impress. I still believe that Naomi Watts will win the Oscar. She will win the Golden Globe.
Les Mis and Silver Linings in Screenplay over Lincoln?
Annnnnnd: DONE.Sorry, Phoenix. My disagreement meter peaked.
San Diego wins not suprising I guess with both Goodman and Akin getting nom in supporting by them. I wonder if Argo is almost in the underdog role now to Zero Dark 30?
I just noticed the Overlooked mention for Sound of My Voice. That was great. Brit Marling was fantastic in it.
Yeah, the San Diego critics went pretty far into left-field. Btw, the link for my blog at the top of the page is for the Washington D.C. critics – you can access my blog by clicking on my name.
Watson was fine. Nothing brilliant. But kudos to Mary Elizabeth Winstead. She deserves more love.
And the absence of The Sessions from Best Picture lineups continues… Just one mention from the Satellite awards (and these are always just so random and comical).
The Dark Knight Rises and Skyfall are, sadly, also not getting the critical support they need at this time.
The Avengers……. !!!! Never thought I’d see that one on any lineups. But I guess it speaks to the huge amount of quality films this year that so many movies are getting at least a couple of mentions somewhere (The Avengers, Perks, Looper…)
Amour is always absent from BP lineups. I wonder how many of these groups have “no-foreign-films” policies for their BPs, because if most don’t, that’s a very weird no-show indeed for the year’s 2nd best reviewed film after ZD30 (and ZD30 could very well fall behind Amour when the larger bulk of reviews come in around its release).
The Impossible I still believe will get an Oscar nom in BP if there are 8 or 9 nominees, which I think there will be. I see no reason why most people are writing it off as such a longshot. If memory serves, this Detroit Critics nomination is its second so far, which is great, as it’s a more mainstream film than a critics’ darling. I’m pretty confident about its PGA chances.
The Avengers? My sides!
Wow on the San Diego awards.
Love that they picked Perks for Best Ensemble, but the overall awards make me wonder if they aren’t trying to hard to be quirky in their selections.
wow perks is REALLY picking up steam. this is ezra and emmas what.. 4th nomination each? between the two of them wouldnt be surprising if one of them snuck in somehow.
Can’t take ’em seriously. Only 4 Best Actresses, nominating John Williams over Greenwood, Desplat, Zimmer, nominating Judi Dench when the Best Supporting Actress field is full of talent… this is just way too funny.
san diego just in a lot of love for argo!

Also, just one note of recognition for James Spader would be awesome.
Michael Kahn simply gets overlooked, once again.
TY! Proper spammed you with these today lol.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower has been receiving quite a bit of love lately. I hope the Golden Globes will continue this. Come on Lionsgate/Summit and re-release this during Christmas break. It has the chance to catch a second wind, IMO. They need to advertise it again too of course, and make sure to tout some of the kudos it has been getting. I’ll be very frustrated if they don’t take the opportunity to do this.
I think Emma Watson needs to be added to the contenders in the sidebar. Ezra Miller is on there. I think Emma has just as much of a chance as many of those listed for Supporting Actress, and definitely more than some of them.
