  • Surprising fact : Now Argo ties Lincoln in Adapted Screenplay (6 wins each) and shockingly enough Looper has the most victories (5) in Original Screenplay (Zero Dark Thirty has 4).

Surprising that PT Anderson won for Director, yet The Master comes in at number 8 on their top ten.

  • LSUduck

Yeah…my fellow Austin critics have confused me. How THE MASTER wins so much yet finishes 8th is very strange indeed. Yay for CLOUD ATLAS though!

  • hadi

    where is Lincoln?!

  • Very few of their winners rank highly in their top ten, unusually. The only ones which do are Argo and Django Unchained, and they both only win one each. The Master places eighth and wins Best Director, Zero Dark Thirty wins Best Film and nothing else. Weird, but cool!

Maybe they didn’t Lincoln didn’t belong, hadi.

    Who’s Phoenix (or Waltz) bumping?

  • Archie

There goes Hathaway again for BSA. You don’t like me you don’t like me speech from Sally Field. 🙁

  • Sam

Jennifer Lawrence? Really? is it the breasts guys? Or did no one see any other movie this year?

  • Sammy

The Master looks like last year’s Drive. No BP and BD nomination at the Oscars. Hoffmann will get the Supporting Actor nomination and he is surely favorite to win it looking at other contenders. He is at another level in my view.

  • rufussondheim

Yeah, I think BSActor is going to come down to PSH and TLJ too. While Jones was very good, Hoffman commands the screen and gives a more full performance, while Jones was kind of being himself.

I mean compare Hoffman in Boogie Nights to Hoffman in Capote to Hoffman here. Now compare TLJ is Lincoln to himin just about anything else.

But I don’t think Hoffman will win, even though he deserves to.

  • Sammy

Yeah, if Master fails to get a BP nod, then Hoffmann’s chances of getting a second oscar will be lower. But this does not change fact that he is the man to beat.

  • Alex

CLOUD ATLAS!!!!!!! AT number 5 and an original score win!!!!!
