The Lancashire Film Critics Awards are now in their fifth edition. These awards recognize british films and performers and are annually voted by a lot of Lancastrians critics. Last year winner was Tomas Alfredson’s Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy that won Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Screenplay. Two years ago Tom Hooper’s The King’s Speech reigned supreme with three awards: Best Film, Best Actor and Best Screenplay. The winners of the first and of the second editions were respectively Hunger by Steve McQueen and Fish Tank by Andrea Arnold.
Les Misérables, the musical drama film directed by Tom Hooper, was the big winner of the 2013 edition with two wins: Best Film and Best Director.
British star of Steven Spielberg’s historical film Lincoln, Daniel Day-Lewis, won the award for Best Actor. Instead, Best Actress winner was Andrea Riseborough for her role in Shadow Dancer.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s film The Master won the award for Best International Film.
Les Miserables is an excellent film and all involved should be proud. The American ratings for LM were baloney, so low for so much talent. I wonder if we need all those critics telling us their subjective viewpoint, which it turns out is worth a bucket of warm spit.
Wow! Now that’s a game changer! I wonder how that will affect the Oscar race… I guess Les mis is finally gaining momentum, better now than never 🙂
I’m so happy for Andrea. I liked her emotionally powerful performance in “Shadow Dancer” so much…
Great winners! I loved Les Miserables… I also loved The King’s Speech and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. These are great films…
Ey up!
