This time for David O. Russell’s new movie (aka Valerie Perrine and Roy Scheider). And Amy Adams and Christian Bale too. Some photos come from JustJared. Jennifer Lawrence is shown in these pics reading what looks like a script, though she famously does not look at the script, or her lines, until the day of shooting. She says it’s worked well for her so far, helping her to react more honestly to the situation.
Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams, Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper starring in David O. Russell’s ABSCAM movie
Hilarious to watch people rush to Lawrence’s defence when Nobody Is Attacking Her.
All this post does is quote what Lawrence herself has said about her own method. The photo and description of the photo offer the most innocuous observations of plain fact — but some people need to flip out about imaginary hate, imaginary attacks.
Oh please Ryan Adams, you’ve nothing but bashed about her in articles about Jennifer Lawrence in this website. Stop the hate. Or if you it isn’t you, then another person on stalking this website who uses Ryan Adams everytime he/she comments.
Do people really believe Jennifer Lawrence doesn’t look at her script or work on her lines? There is a history of film people (actors, directors, etc) often lying in interviews, being facetious and playing with the press (Hitchcock anyone?), which is exactly what Lawrence does when she gives interviews. Even Sasha commented on how there is clearly no way she didn’t prepare her lines for *Winter’s Bone* when she saw that live interview with Lawrence during Oscar season.
Of course she prepares but admitting to do so does not go hand in hand with her public persona of “normal girl-next-door gal with ‘extreme’ talent” so her team will never let her admit that she prepares or that her parents used to pay casting directors to land her auditions.
Bradley’s perm is hysterical. Oddly sexy (for one time, maybe). I think David O. Russell really likes to play with Jennifer Lawrence. A muse is not a bad thing if the film delivers and helps her establish post-Oscar credibility. I read that Amy Adams scored “Big Eyes” with Christoph Waltz, and Tim Burton directing. Slow and steady wins the race. She is smart about her career.
Bale & Adams are the main ones to watch should the film hit the right notes. If the film is well received expect Adams on her 5th nomination. Should that happen it will be her 5th nomination in 8 years.
Man, she must have a kickass memory. I was impressed that she could memorize the day of. Although, they all prepare differently. I remember Michael Fassbender saying that he reads the script over and over again.
Also Megan Ellison, who usually does not tweet behind the scenes or even during so-called business hours, is already posting some gushing tweets on this movie as it is being made. She knows which horse to bet on this year among her five movies (and I believe Foxcatcher and Her are both close if not done so she had plenty of chances to talk about Bennett Miller and Spike Jonze).
The more I get to know and see about David O. Russel’s new film the more places it jumps up in my most anticipated of the year list! If a pretty darn good movie like SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK is your worst that’s not a bad filmography at all.
I love the terribleness of all of their hair. The hairdressers deserve to be in the SAG ensemble for what they pulled off. I am fulling on-board with this movie. This is closer to the David O. Russell movies that I love, plus Bale and Adams (and also, Megan Ellison: Producer) signing on gives me much more confidence that this is not going to be the Weinstein-fied version of DOR.
Also Jeremy Renner is in the movie and his hair is greasy Elvis, Orbison kind of hair. By far the most fantastic of the men, though the standards are low.
“[JLaw and Cooper] This time for David O. Russell’s new movie. And Amy Adams and Christian Bale too.”
SOLD! I’m in. [THIS & BLUE JASMINE = THRILLED!]

Oscar hopeful or not, I can imagine being entertained by this wonderful cast, plus the film directed by David O. Russell, or rather, this “*seemingly*” right kind of film for and being directed by David O. Russell. Moreover, usually I was not too thrilled about an actor trying to be methodical about it. But here, Bale gaining weight apparently for the role in this film, plus his own […] talent, etc. – and not to mention JLaw, Adams and Cooper all in it next to him….
I really cannot wait for Blue Jasmine, the plot sounds great and the film description has been officially changed to “Drama” on IMDb, so I smell something interesting + Blanchett’s on board, what more can a person want? 😛
Based on the many leaked pics from the movie it really is Blanchett who is going to be the Blue one, almost 100% guaranteed.
While I agree the 1970s reference is funny, I do wonder what deriding Lawrence’s acting style achieves. AD lamented the other day how few opportunities there are for actresses in Hollywood and yet gladly make fun of one who is making the most out of hers. AD once championed her star-making film three years ago and used to like to partly take credit for its success.
Lawrence is talented. It’s not like she’s an air-brained supermodel. She won the Oscar. David O. Russell wanted her in this film. And it’s a role that might show further versatility. Oh, but she’s young and hot. Therefore, it’s okay to hate on her?
I do wonder what deriding Lawrence’s acting style achieves.
Deriding Lawrence? By comparing her to Valerie Perrine? Cannes Best Actress winner Valerie Perrine? How is that an insult?
It’s not got a damn thing to do with comparing their acting style. Sasha is comparing their ’70s hair and clothing styles.
Didn’t have time to read the rest of Sasha’s 5-sentence post? Missed the part where Sasha quotes Lawrence saying “it’s worked well for her so far, helping her to react more honestly to the situation.”
Fuck off with the misogyny accusations. I’m pretty sick of it.
Who’s deriding Lawrence’s acting style? There are three sentences in the post. One, about acting style, states what she claims works for her.
If it’s the Perrine reference, how is that deriding? I happen to like Valerie Perrine and the roles she was known for. The reference in relation to the photo was perfect.
I think that other Vince on the 12 years post has you a bit rattled. No JL haters here, Vince.
So we are not allowed to have an opinion on Jennifer Lawrence? I don’t know what I find more annoying: her acting or the overzealous adoration of her acting.
How exactly does Lawrence pick movies if she doesn’t read the scripts? Does she just ask her agent to read them then explain them to her?
I mean… she can’t only be going by directors since Mark Tonderai (House at the end of the street) isn’t, not to put too fine a point on it, a household name.
She’s an actor. She prepares. Plenty of actors are reading their lines right before a scene. I’ve seen it happen on sets I’ve been on.
Stop this hate with her and let her do her thing.

Calm down, hyperactive watchdogs.

You’re mistaken. Find those articles to show me what you mean.
I don’t like SLP. I don’t like the role of Tiffany in SLP. You know Tiffany and Jennifer Lawrence are not the same thing, right?
i may see this just for the hair…

Really hoping Adams will finally win for this. She’s overdue.

You know what these pictures are missing?

Also, Bradley Cooper’s chia pet haircut is real. There was on-set photos where he had pink curlers as he left his trailer.

I love Woody Allen films – his directing and writing (etc.) altogether.
With Cate Blanchett in it, as well as everything else, I just can’t see it go wrong.
Cheers.

Is this a form of misogyny?

It’s all about Bale for me on this one.
Just swallowed my gum at the Perrine/Sheider remark – great aim, Sasha!
Adams looks great all glammed-up. A pot-bellied, comb-over Bale means he’s going for it.
Cooper’s hair suggests that he might be playing JL’s poodle?
