Why isn’t the studio that made the Johnny Depp “Rush” suing this film like Warners is dicking TWC over “The Butler”?
Looks like TWC’s got No Way Out if you see what I did there…
it has this Danny Boyle kind of vibe to it. looks stylish and engrossing..
TOTALLY off-topic here. I’m up to mischief today. And was thinking about the worst possible cast I could come up with.
How about?
WORST POTENTIAL CASTING for The Great Gatsby)
David Hasselhoff Tom Buchanan
Demi Moore Daisy Buchanan
Michael J. Fox Jay Gatsby
Clay Aiken Nick Carroway
Melissa McCarthy Myrtle
Tonya Harding Jordan Baker
Tag. You’re it.
Worst Great Gatsby Cast:
Director-Michael Bay or Joss Whedon
Adam Sandler-Jay Gatsby
Taylor Lautner-Nick Carroway
Megan Fox-Daisy Buchanan
Vin Diesel-Tom Buchanan
I bet Joss Whedon would make a better GATSBY than many of the names that the cinephiles would come up with. I could do much worse than you two and only include Oscar-nominated actors otherwise it’s too easy. But let’s not hurt anyone’s feelings.
Joss Whedon just did Much Ado for Nothing.
I do think Tonya Harding is inspired casting for the “athletic” role of Jordan Baker.
I guess what got me going on this was that I remember (and loved) when John Waters cast Patti Hearst (a non-actress) in a supporting role in “Serial Mom” (one of the best underrated comedies ever made).
Crazy funny!
I’m really looking forward to this, love Peter Morgan’s scripts (The Queen, Frost/Nixon) and this might put Ron Howard back on top after The Dilemma.
Damn! Is he fine! I’d pay for a 2 hour movie just of Chris Hemsworth walking around looking for his shirt..
+1
Those people from the racing community (Formula 1 chiefs, crew & drivers and others, for example Nascar champ Jeff Gordon) and sports journaliust who had the chance to watch the full movie are raving about it. That’s a good sign. That tells me the film is authentic.
I’m not saying it will win a lot of awards, but I think this will be a (maybe serious?) contender this fall, early next year – at least in nominations.
And the trailer (minus the music under in some parts) looks really great. Really the best one yet.
I’ve got quite a few friends who are U.S. Marines and all of them love JARHEAD and so do I therefore I take what you’re saying as a great sign. What did wrestlers think of THE WRESTLER? I don’t recall.
Point taken.
Well, the lead actor is cute!
Off topic: Reco the documentary 20 Steps from Stardom. Fantastic!
