Thrilled to see “To the Wonder” get Best Cinematography for Emmanuel Lubeszki.
I think almost every film Terrance Mallick has ever made garnered a Best Cinematography nomination (the exception being “Badlands”).
So the odds are pretty good that Lubeszki may get two nods this year from AMPAS. The guy deserves an Oscar. Everyone was quite shocked when his work on “Children of Men” lost to “Inception”. Lubeszki had taken every cinematography award that year (except the Oscar). So, yeah, the guy is due for a little gold.
They announced nominees a couple of days ago, and winners today?
Does any other awards body have a shorter window than that?
Emmanuel Lubezki.
To the Wonder.
kthx that’s all I need to know.
Renee, it has a very tough uphill climb winning against 12 Years a Slave. But they loved the 2nd film enough to give it a nomination. If Before Midnight scores a best picture nod along with best actress then I’ll be confident in saying it’ll win screenplay.
Her has won the San Diego after winning Los Angeles. Big support from California!!
I don’t think Awards Daily agrees due to its last place position on the contenders tracker but I really think that Before Midnight has a great shot at winning the Oscar in the screenplay category. Would love to see the three take home gold!
And another Academy Award nomination for Best Actress awaits Sandy Bullock!

Keep the Oscar Isaac love flowing!
@Sebastien Let’s hope that she wins sag, golden globe and bafta
by the way, I love Blanchett, and she 100% deserves an Oscar for a leading role, but she also won tons of critic awards with Elizabeth, and alas, her Oscar turned out to be robbed in that year…
OSCAR ISAAC!!!

I love your post 🙂
oops, my mistake, it’s her 6th!

Madame Blanchett is just killing it, isn’t she?
That’s her 5th Critics Award!
I’ll be making a list just to annoy all the naysayers back in the summer and fall, actually.
I’ve believed in that performance and film ever since I read the synopsis.
Is HER the frontrunner yet?
Captain Phillips for Best Editing, as it should be. And love the Lubezki win for To The Wonder rather than for the CGI blockbuster.
Jared Leto was phenomenal. I wish he had more screen-time. It’s a small role once you start thinking about it.
Loving the Cate Blanchett and Jared Leto sweep!
More Her love! Woot!
Also, I think it’s becoming clear that the one thing we know for near certain at this point, is Jared Leto will likely be winning his first Oscar this year.
Fancy that!
Such highbrow choices, Woodley my God!
Job well done, San Diego!
Woo Hoo! Another WIN for Jared Leto!!!
