Fox released this photo of Ben Affleck speaking to the public in hopes of finding his missing wife.  That is, incidentally, a perfect rendering of the photo described in the book.

  • Al Robinson

The Hobbit: There and Back Again.

  • Bryce Forestieri

I’m giving Fincher the benefit of the doubt because well he’s Fincher, but I don’t know about Rosamund Pike, man. She hasn’t been very interesting in movies.

I know it’s widely accepted Clint’s lost it, but I’m actually excited about JERSEY BOYS (I have no idea what that’s about or who’s in it, LOL I know), but it’s Clint (weak spot). And I like the title. Having said that, the trailer will have to show some definite promise. I knew J. EDGAR was going to suck the moment I saw the trailer. He’s still with Tom Stern? Yuck.

    My most anticipated

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST (even after the ugly trailer)
    GODZILLA (after seeing the trailer)
    THE RAID 2

  • Al Robinson

Wow! I didn’t even know Clint Eastwood was still directing. I though he had hung it up after the debacle that was J. Edgar.

I think for me overall I’d go:

    1. Interstellar
    2. Gone Girl
    3. Exodus
    4. The Hobbit: There and Back Again
    5. Foxcatcher

Who is the DP for this movie…Jeff Cronenweth?

  • Sammy

Ben Affleck + David Fincher = Perfect Combo

I bet this movie will at least get eight Academy Award Nominations!!

  • The Jack

Ryan, what the hell are you talking about?

  • nothing. I thought I heard some troll grunts. sorry.

  • SallyinChicago

    (Where’s the edit button?)
    The Monuments Men
^^ I saw the trailer to this and honest to god, within 15 seconds I was bored.

  • SallyinChicago

I don’t know what this is about, but it seems to be about another missing child. Or kidnapped child, and I’m about done with those type of movies….too close to real life things going on today.

“A woman mysteriously disappears on the day of her wedding anniversary.” So it is not about a missing child, which helps a lot I think. I think Prisoners was enough. We don’t need more missing children movies.

  • FilmFatale

Uh, Sally, are you intentionally trying to appear misinformed or at least not abreast of the book this film is based on?

GONE GIRL has nothing to do with a missing child and honestly, what serious movie fan can be so dismissive about any subject matter simply because it goes on in real life? Does it REALLY disturb you to see a rich movie like PRISONERS because children may be kidnapped in real life? Shouldn’t you be paying attention to what the writer, director and actors are saying about the subject, rather than shaken to your core over the mere subject of the movie (read: something that isn’t real, 100% contrived)?

So by your logic, you could never watch anything that might allude to any darker element of the human experience because … why, exactly?

How about serena, with jlaw and bradley cooper in it? Will it ever be shown to the public? I was excited for it to be released this year.

  • Al Robinson

on IMDb, all it says for release date for the USA for Serena is 2014.
    Nothing specific yet. 🙁

  • Al Robinson

And right now IMDb has Gone Girl set for October 3, 2014. But of course that could change.

    A few more:

    Interstellar – November 7, 2014
    Exodus – December 12, 2014
    Unbroken – December 25, 2014

  • SallyinChicago

Clarification: Child can be an adult child of a parent.

  • Grace

This is my very first comment – but as someone who has read the Gone Girl book – I’ll just say the premise/synopsis of the story is … very much on the surface. I’m not sure how Fincher is going to tell this story, because the book is from the viewpoints of the wife’s diary and then the viewpoint of her husband. It’s not an easy story to tell. I won’t even tell you what I thought of the book because it’s a story that’s best discovered by oneself, but I have confidence that Fincher will be able to pull it up. I’ve never felt much warmth from his films, and I actually think that characteristic lends itself to this story extremely well.

    In David Fincher we trust
