Please forgive the quality of this video but Rooney Mara’s speech from the Santa Barbara Film Festival is so beautiful I had to share it with you all. Blanchett speaks towards the end.

Sasha Stone has been around the Oscar scene since 1999. Almost everything on this website is her fault.

Carol has so much going for it I do not see how it can fail. Blanchett and Mara will be brillant I believe and having Kyle Chandler and Sarah Paulson is great supporting roles directed by Todd Haynes looks like a slam dunk oscar winner. With Weinstein behind it I would be glad for him to push a lot.
GoOnNow,
possible…but right now i am very focused on her winning well-deserved Best Actress Oscar…Unfortunately, I started feeling not so sure anymore…!
I’ve been stalking the Carol news ever since Cate was first cast back in early spring 2012.
Is she earning her Oscar nomination #7 with this? – oh yeah!
Wonderful!
Cate, oh Cate. She is divine, she´s the greatest.
Rooney is cool too, great speech.
Phantom,
I almost forgot about Carol…Thanks for a reminder! Yes it is very exciting.Given the talent involved, I am sure it will get lots of attention during the awards reason. Now it is on my radar.
Endearingly beautiful introduction and wonderful acceptance speech as always.
Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara…WOW…they will rock the bejeezus out of ‘Carol’, an upcoming film we cannot start talking about soon enough, so here’s the deal :
CAROL- based on Patricia Highsmith’s novel first published in 1952 – is set in 1950s New York and it tells the story of a department-store clerk (Rooney Mara) who dreams of a better life and falls for an older, married woman (Cate Blanchett). The film also stars the feature-wise criminally underused Sarah Paulson and reunites Blanchett with Todd Haynes who not only directed one of her Oscar nominated performances (I’m Not There) but also is famour for his brilliant female centered period pieces including Far From Heaven and Mildred Pierce (HBO) so it is safe to assume his take on CAROL will be reliably excellent.
P.S. In case all this pedigree (prestigious source material, acclaimed cast and director) wasn’t enough, the distributor is The Weinstein Company, so a year-end release (it will start filming soon) and an effective Oscar-campaign seem like givens.
Here is the novel’s Wikipedia page including a plot summary, reading it made me anticipate this even more because I cannot wait to see what these two wonderful actresses will do to such complex roles.

What a class act she is…I really hope that Cate will win her very well deserved Lead Actress Oscar..I believe that she is the best of her generation. She is not only a great actress, but she also seems to be a great person, which is much more important in my book.
I also hope that Rooney Mara will get roles that will show her acting skills. She looks very cool and has already shown that given the right opportunity she can really deliver
Two fabulous babes. For my money, they can say and do whatever the want.
