What do you do if you’re an independent movie written and directed by a woman, about a lesbian getting married? Do you wait for Hollywood to shove aside that latest coming of age, coming of middle age or coming of old age story for 50 shades of the male psyche? Or do you just try to make it yourself. They need some post-production money to finish, not much – around $150K. They are turning to you fine people for help. Watch the video and head on over to Indiegogo to help them out.
There are independent films on Indiegogo right now who could really use this level of conversation and attention, and yet…..
@Reichdome back with Avengeance!
While I respect your opinions, Heigl would probably have secured the funding she needed if she didn’t insist on burning so many bridges. She stood on the shoulders of everyone around her and said she was tall. There’s one thing to criticize what she thought could be better and another is to call it beneath her or sexist — which if Knocked Up is sexist and all the other rom-com “I need a man to survive” films she does is not, then the world is backwards.
Ryan you are ABSOLUTELY right. I know that perhaps it looks bad for a star to put money into his/her own project but #1 Heigl already produces her own dreck (alongside her mom) and #2 then do it secretly! Unreal that these multi mllionaires come to us plebians for dough for their usually not-very-groundbreaking product.
I think in my view a lot of opinions of Heigl are deplorable. Sorry to say with respect cos i do respect and admire members views on other matters but not this.
There are far worser less worthy actors who make MORE than Heigl does.
Regardless of our opinions of film…and sometimes vice versa views of qactors…we let one influence the other often too easily.
For instance, a lot of people you could argue were disgusted with John TRavolta’s casting as the lead alien in “Battlefield Earth”
Lindsay Lohan who in my opinion is a actress who deserves to lose public support and yet surely? who once earned more than Heigl, at the peak of her career and even as it started to slide….has unfortunately but as result of her actions repulsed and put off millions of once loyal followers to her movies.
To say cos a actor has “bad taste” or because she “speaks her mind” to judge her on that or any actor on this basis well that your view…but have they done drug abuse and other screwed up things, hurt their own image irreversibly and tainted and stressed other people like Lindsay Lohan has?
I admire KAtherine Heigl. Yes, i single (good g-d did i say that out loud well maybe not by yrs end we see:P did i spk my mind there too/:P)
But for instance do pple disrespect me cos i speak my mind? ey? i thought that what both in public debate and both in hollywood this is something very much in short supply.
Heigl’s earning are justified (and yet still hollywood press insists broadly digging up on personal private lives that breach each actors boundaries all these years after the scandals in hollywood involving the media with Howard Hughes, and countless other actors/ actresses pfft hollywood never learn from their mistakes)
Yet what you should consider…is that Katherine Heigel who i find beautiful smart and very sexy… success is justified…she a dedicated actor…yes sure she has a big mouth but she contravenes and seeks to break through conservatism old style in hollywood. Unlike so many and too many other oscar nominees of oscars choice, she challenges political correctness to put her voice and view forward of what right what she believes.
She puts her convictions out there…and is happy to put it out there in her films.
Yes some films are crass..controversial..but it thanx to new generation and very talented actresses like Katherine Heigl (ooo and she single too no?:P jke) that if anything ought to and are starting to represent the future of hollywood.
The day the academy recognize her outstanding performances or someone that follows in her legacy of honest, openness and her preparedness to justify the roles she does…even against the court of public opinion beyond hollywood. She a go getter there needs to be more pple like that in this world.
Honest yet treat themselves with dignity and respect do not shame their image..but if they dfo for choices they make…they shouldbe all more respected with film roles they choose…to maximise and if anyhting expose hollywood’s biggest flaw..
There STILL stubborn obsession with political correctness…
Heigl exposes this in her own way and has earnt my respect cos of it (not just cos she a hot sxc lady) but what i do find appealing petrsonally is that she spks her mind…
It may not happen in Heigl’s time it would be a damn shame if it doesnt but this years oscar race attests to one irrefutable fact: CHANGE IS C9OMING CULTURALLY IN OSCAR. THE DAY ACTRESSES LIKE HIEGEL ARE RECOGNIZED IS THE DAY THAT OSCAR BREAKDOWN THEIR BIGGEST BARRIER OF ALL political correctness in putting aside their preconcxeptions of what should or should not be said publicly or what choices are and are not made by actresses aside to look at each role on their own merit,
who here regardless whether you agree with me or not can say they dont look forward to actresses who adapt similar approach to Heigl or actors for that matter being recognized?
There is one actor who been nominated this year wgho i admire equally (except i dont fancy guys:P err no offence of course to those who do:)) cos he does spk his mind in a diffferent wway when on set yes maybe he should show more respect to the directors etc…but they continually give him roles cos of his amazing talent.
i talking about Christian Bale. truly one of the most underrated actors like Heigl of the current generation of actors dont you think>?
Maybe when Ms. Heigl starts making decent films and pretending to care about quality then I’ll shoot a little money her way. Unfortunately I can’t give money to a woman who complains about sexism, and, proceeds to make movies like Two for the Money. Hardly empowering

AS one who contributed to two movies — Spike Lee’s and Whoopie’s — neither did well. Spike’s Old Boy was a bomb….and Whoopie “Mom Mabley” was on HBO….I was expecting it to stream, so I could rent it.
I also contributed to another “indie” movie, and never heard back from the producers what happened to the movie and the money.
Based on the above, I will never ever contribute to a fundraising movie again.
How in the heck is she choosing these projects? She’s failed in almost all of them, and just reading this synopsis….it sounds like another failure.
She slammed her own movie, made many more crapfests and even slammed her own television writers. I used to like her, I like someone who is opinionated but working with her must be a real gamble. If Zach Braff caught hell for bringing “Wish I Was Here” to Kickstarter then Heigl definitely will since (I assume) she made way more money in her career. Good luck to her though.
Sorry, but I won’t be contributing to this. Heigl is an actress that has no taste in my opinion. I mean, what can you say when an actor puts down the only good movie they’ve made? That’s not an actress I trust to pick good movies to make.
Sorry, but I won’t be contributing to this. Heigl is an actress that has no taste in my opinion. I
I do think she has great potential and I do think she was unfairly screwed over (Knocked Up WAS sexist…good fun, sure, but sexist) for speaking her mind BUT let’s get real, expecting mostly ordinary people to cough up 150K so she can finish her film when she was paid 8 (!) figures per movie not so long ago not to mention she had been in a huge hit show for years where her per episode salary was probably more than this amount, is slightly annoying. She should just renegotiate her deal (backend + (executive) producing credit) and front the money.
Katherine Heigl is worth $30 million. $150,000 is 1/2 of 1% of her fortune. She’s in a better position to give me 50 bucks than the other way around.
Do like I did and give $50 to some girls who have nothing.
Of course if you have 100 dollars to give away, then you can divide your giving between the girls in Malawi and Katherine Heigl both and then everybody’s happy.
I could imagine, with Ms. Heigl’s belooved names attached, the project should feel like a walk in the park to attain the said, targeted post-production fund . . . . . . . .
Good luck.
Such a loovely actress . . . . . . . .
