@Bryce
Thanks for the link. Always an early bird. Kudos.
Considering your resourcefulness, if you have a blog, I’ll read and comment (provided that no official log-in be required xD).

Agree with “geremy” — it somewhat reminds me of Akira, as well.
@Bryce
My interest is piqued. This is the first I’ve heard of The Signal, but the trailer reminds me a lot of Akira.

also: how does Ethan Hawke not age????
I am 15 years younger than him and 14 years younger than Jared Leto and they look only 5 years older than me, tops.
WHAT’S YOUR SECRET, PEOPLE??
(other than natural good looks, food advisors and great genes)
can’t wait to see this. probably my most awaited release of the year.
OT: BRYCE, are you still coming to Rio for the World Cup?? I’ve sent you a couple e-mails… let me know when you get here, would be lovely to meet you, mate!
I got the goosebumps too. It is a personal film and at the same time a great achievement.
Something tells me that Patricia Arquette will steal the show.
Looks fantastic. If this works at all, it absolutely has to be considered for Best Director and Best Actor. Great to see Patricia Arquette in a major movie again too.
My gut unfortunately tells me that Jolie’s film might run the boards, regardless of merit. She’ll make much better press/campaign fodder than Linklater, and the Academy are as much of starfuckers as the Golden Globes crowd.
The July release date will make it hard for IFC to maintain momentum, unless it wins a bunch of end of year critics’ prizes.
However, I do think it will pull a Beasts of the Southern Wild trajectory with nominations for Picture, Director, Script, Actor with outside shots for Supporting Actress and Editing.
Joe I think GONE GIRL will be excellent popcorn fare however I personally don’t think it has a chance against films like BOYHOOD or FOXCATCHER which will probably both major contenders. Who knows?
@Bryce
I am DYING to see The Signal, it looks like it’ll be a blast to see in theatres.
When I went to see UNDER THE SKIN, I had the chance to see what the trailer for THE SIGNAL looks (and sounds) on the big screen and it was overpowering — also helped that sound at this particular theater is a depravity. I keep seeing it ignored in all the cinephile/snob/elitist sites that feature “alternative” summer movie lists to keep the summer “interesting”; their loss. They are revealing themselves…because anyone who has seen LOVE has to be looking forward to this follow-up. Fingers crossed for it to expand at some point.

Good movie trailer could be a contender but I think its fincher’s year with gone girl
this trailer actually brought a tear to my eye – can’t quite figure out why…
So, what did he do? Round up the cast one month every year to shoot more of the film??
This seems like such a great idea, and I can’t wait to see it!!
I don’t know if it’s just because I’ve been anticipating this film for so long, but I got goosebumps watching this. What a brilliant idea that by all accounts thus far was brilliantly executed. I can’t wait.
Definitely could be a strong contender to win Best Picture.
I am going with Linklater for Best Director for what he has accomplished with this film. The film itself is also suppose to be remarkable and could very well be a strong candidate to win Best Picture. I have read that Patricia Arquette supposedly gives a great performance.
Even before seeing the film, what he did with this film is amazing.
Seeing this tonight at the Boston Independent Film Festival. So excited.
