Amy Dunne has a pinterest page. In a brand new marketing step, the makers of Gone Girl have used the social network to create a page based on the character’s interests.
A Mammoth Press release said, “In the upcoming movie thriller Gone Girl by David Fincher, ‘Amazing Amy’ Dunne (Rosamund Pike) has gone missing and all eyes are on her husband Nick (Ben Affleck.) Everyone is wondering ‘Did Nick kill his wife?’ As evidence mounts and speculation rises, Amy’s past is coming into focus on Pinterest. What was she like? What were her interests? Did she leave any clues? Explore for yourself at http://www.pinterest.com/gonegirlmovie/.”
Dunne’s page currently has ten boards including one titled, ‘For Nick’. For those not familiar with the social networking site, Pinterest allows its users to share images or videos via boards, or sharing other “pins” from users who have similar interests.
From what we can see, she likes chocolate truffles, she likes to cook, and she writes and uses inspirational quotes to help her. Explore the site and see what you can piece together about Amy Dunne.
Trying to steer clear of all the clues I can about this film. I’m still pretty much in the dark. I imagine Sony’s hardly likely to give the game away, but combine what clues they may provide with what plot details I may innocuously read elsewhere, and I’m afraid I’ll piece too much together for my liking.
Okay so I’m on Pinterest now, and following Amy Dunne. 😀
The first thing I did was look at the Pinterest page and start looking for clues. Boom – they’ve got me!
My first thought when I read this was how Rosamund Pike has been put in that Best Actress five for months now almost by default – even though we have not really seen the movie yet. Not many people are talking about Ben Affleck for Best Actor, or saying Pike would be Supporting Actress. I am not saying she should be, the movie is about her, albeit in her physical absence for the most part.
Anyway, did not think I would ramble that much. What I wanted to say was this Pinterest page could act almost as a For Your Consideration campaign for the movie, but seemingly more so for Pike. I don’t know how many people have a Pinterest account, and will see this, but enough I would say to implant her in your brain {even if Amy is pretty prominent there already}.
