In case you haven’t heard, Angelina Jolie has caught chicken pox causing the Unbroken director to pull out from promoting her film. Last night, cinematographer Roger Deakins was on hand for the unveiling of Roger Deakins: Persistent Vision. This exhibit of select works from the films of 11-time Academy Award nominated cinematographer is a visual journey of his brilliant Oscar nominated movies, culminating with an exclusive look at the photography of Unbroken.
As Jolie was unable to attend, husband, Brad Pitt attended in her place, posing with Deakins, and Brolin. Check out the photos below:
Unbroken opens on Christmas Day and received four Critics Choice nominations including Best Director for Jolie, Best Picture, and Deakins for Best Cinematography.
No mention of the Joel Coen in the last picture.
BRAD PITTS COMPANY PRODUCED “SELMA” HIS AN EXECUTIVE PRODUCER. BUT IT’S HIS PLAN B EXECUTIVES DEDE GARNER & JEREMY KLEINER WHO HAS PRODUCER CREDIT MEANING THE TWO OF THEM WILL ACTUALY BE THE RECEIVING THE AWARDS STATUETTES ALONG WITH OPRAH ANG OTHER PRODUCERS IF THE FILM WIN ANY AWARDS. THATS WHY I THINK BRAD IS NOT VISIBLE PROMOTING THIS FILM SO THAT THE ATTENTION WOULD NOT BE TAKEN AWAY FOR THE FILM SELMA , NOT BE ABOUT HIM.
Their kids got old. Fast.
I don’t really care how good or bad can Unbroken be. Roger Deakins is a true cinematography legend, and the fact that he has eleven nominations and no Oscar is just ridiculous. So far he should have al least three: The Shawshank Redemption (1994) over Legends of the Fall, The Man Who Wasn´t There (2001) over The Fellowship of the Rings, and Skyfall (2012) over Life of Pi. In all three cases the winners were good and safer choices.
Living Legend of Cinematograpy – Roger Deakins.
He’d better get used to it. As Selma’s producer, he will have to attend many awards ceremonies alone over the next two months. His wife would probably rather stay home than show up at places where her own film is not wanted.
