There were cars before women had the right to vote.
Carey Mulligan looks to leap to the top of the pack for Best Actress based on this trailer. The very very talented Ms. Mulligan finally looks to have a role that challenge her and exhibit her full range of ability. She makes us care, even if we didn’t care before. It’s important for women to know in 2015 what other women suffered for their privilege to vote.
The cover of the Stevie Nicks song Landslide is lovely.
Wow, if there was ever an Oscar bait trailer. This is it!
The performances look fantastic. Carey Mulligan, Anne-Marie Duff, Helena Bonham Carter and Meryl Streep will have to duke it out for the attention come awards time, if this trailer is to be trusted. Foreseeing deserved recognition for Mulligan and Streep at this point.
Usually have at least a few problems with Abi Morgan’s writing, but I’m hoping that Suffragette will be one of the few films that overcomes the flaws in her work and reaches the artistic heights it deserves to.
For 50 years Helena Bonham Carter has labored peacefully to secure the Academy’s vote. She’s been ridiculed, battered and ignored. I incite the women in the academy to rebel against the male-dominated, after-babes lusting, established order, smash and burn things if they must, and secure with their hard-earned ballots an Oscar for a little, middle-age, plump lady! She will win! Never give up the fight!
Is this a UFO? Because it is completely exciting! You have a major actress, Carey Mulligan, on her way to greatness. You have Meryl Streep to sell it and pass the torch. And you have an international film with a great story for movie lovers everywhere. 100% yes.
How surprising will it be if Streep gets nominated and all the other actresses get ignored?
I agree with everyone. This looks really good. I’m predicting a Best Picture nomination for it in fact. I know, I shouldn’t do that, but what the heck…
Holy crap, Mulligan looks amazing in this. If she (and the film) deliver, I would love to see her win (she should have won for An Education back in 2009).
Even though Focus Features has become more commercially centered over the past couple of years, it’s great that they’re still trying to release interesting arthouse films as well. This and The Danish Girl both look promising.
This looks fantastic. Mulligan is killing it this year on stage and on film.
Not gonna lie, this trailer gave me chills.
She’s wonderful and I love her accent. Brilliant, passionate performance. And the movie looks pleasantly darker than expected. Mulligan over Blanchett for the win.
