My hometown critics have weighed in with their views of the best of 2016 cinema. (And in the off-chance you’re wondering if I’m part of the Phoenix Film Critics Society, to quote Groucho Marx by way of Woody Allen, “I would never want to belong to any club that would have someone like me for a member”). Winners will be announced December 20th.

La La Land leads the pack with 13 nominations.
