Phase 2 voting for the 2017 Emmy® season wrapped last night. It’s literally all over but the counting.
Well, that’s it folks. The 2017 Emmy voting Phase 2 cycle wrapped last night at 10pm PT. Winners will be announced at three Emmy ceremonies in September. First up are the 2017 Creative Arts Emmys, held over two nights on September 9 and 10. Then, the big show drops September 17 on CBS hosted by Stephen Colbert.
Emmy voting in Phase 2 started August 14. Television Academy members cast ballots for all program categories. The animated documentary/nonfiction categories were restricted to peer groups. Additionally, voters could also select winners in their individual Academy branches. As Jalal previously mentioned, voters select their favorite from each category. Gone are the days of the preferential ballots. So, it becomes something of a popularity contest, meaning the most widely seen shows stand to benefit from this system.
In the upcoming weeks, stay tuned to ADTV as we present our second annual Emmy Confidential series, starting September 11. Here, we dive into the minds of actual Television Academy voters and reveal their personal thought process as they cast their ballot.
And starting September 4, be sure to put your prediction hats on in our 2017 Emmy Contest. You’ll have a chance to win prizes courtesy of major studios in the hunt for Emmy wins. All you have to do is be flawless in your predictions.
Until then…
