Ahead of its Cannes Film Festival screening, Focus Features released a first look photo at Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman. The film stars Adam Driver and John David Washington and tells the real-life story of Ron Stallworth, an undercover police officer who infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan. Driver plays his partner, Flip Zimmerman.
The film will be released on August 10, making the anniversary of the Charlottesville, Virginia protests.
When I found out whose kid that is I was surprised. I really liked him on “Ballers” and had no idea. He doesn’t look like dad at all. This should be good. Driver actually really impressed me in TLJ which I’m probably not supposed to say in snobby company but yeah.
Can’t wait to see this! Fingers crossed that Lee knocks this out of the park.
curious about this…
Apparently this film isn’t only dark and serious but rather has some humor in it as well.
By the way, does anyone have Cannes awards predictions. I came up with early predictions but I’m not really seeing much that would scream: “This will win awards at Cannes”:
Palme d’or: Se rokh (Jafar Panahi)
Grand Prix: Yomeddine (A.B. Shawky)
Prix d’interprétation masculine: whoever happens to have the lead role (Ahlat agaci)
At least the Palme Dog should be easy to predict
