Ed Oxenbould in Wildlife is another excellent youth performance.
Apparently Happy as Lazarro is on US Netflix. This film is one of the very best of the year so I recommend that you see it
I wrote about it more in length back in June:
Also, if anyone comments to this by saying that this is somehow not cinema or not worthy of Oscar consideration purely because of its distribution, please note that you shall be blocked, without much consideration.
This is not cinema and not worthy of Oscar consideration purely because of its distribution.
(Jk, but I couldn’t resist. :D) Actually, it’s a wonderful film and I really liked your thoughts on it as well.
Italy should’ve chosen it instead of Dogman.
It’s hard to go against a Garrone movie.
‘First Man’ relegated to craft/tech nominations. Ridiculous.
Truly absurd. Much like the universe itself.
These critics thought there were five better films than First Man here, which is not unreasonable. Four tech noms means they didn’t hate it, though. Don’t worry, there will be room for it in Oscar’s expanded Best Picture category.
They did, and that is precisely what I regard as ridiculous. I wasn’t worried for a second.
“The Favorite” has just won 10 British Independent Film Awards, with both Colman and Weiz winning in the Actresses category. The film also has an incredible box office considering that it is only in 34 teathers, for 2 weeks, and it reached the incredible mark of 1,6M . I can see a clear scenario at the Oscars where AISB and Roma divide votes and The Favorite wins. The British contingent of the Academy will for sure go all the way for the film (as they did for “Darkest Hour” this year).
Yes, Rachel Weisz won!! I’m so happy. I always said she’s a more likely winner than Emma Stone.
this was unexpected but well deserved. Watch for a similar sweep at the BAFTAs with The Favourite.
OT: Notre Dame just made the NCAA Football playoffs. This is one of the best feelings I’ll have this year besides seeing the Oscar race. Go Fighting Irish!
In other news, the HFPA declined to put Natalie Portman for Vox Lux in Supporting, and now she’s competing for the Lead Actress (Drama) Globe. Colman and Blunt will be in Comedy, which loosens the category up a bit. And she’s a big Hollywood star. Do y’all think she might get in?
But her name hasn’t even made it into any of the Supporting noms/wins so far. But since I haven’t seen it or The Favourite, I can’t comment on how much screen time Portman and Colman have in those films.
thank you for this info. I think the same thing for the actor in Mary poppins.. can’t recall his name right now but they are throwing him in lead. But these are two things to consider for whenever the globes contest comes out!
I want her to get in so badly cause I love her and she seems so terrific in this. What do you think and have you seen the film? Dying to see it.
I’ve seen it. The film was very fascinating and she knocks it out of the park. Flashy, transformative performance, lots of range, complicated character. If she got some traction and ended up in the conversation, I’m sure she would be in the conversation for the win. But I agree with the HFPA, it should be a lead performance, even though the screentime is relatively little. I just want her to get nominated somehow, and I can even stomach category fraud for that.
Good to hear. Yep, that’s how I feel about it in her case. I like her so much as an actress and I feel she’s clearly so incredible in this, I could handle a category fraud for her to get that nomination.
i`ve seen it too. Portman should win either lead or supporting. Her scenes are one oscar clip after another. But the film hasnt been seen enough. I have a feeling once released next week it will star showing up and may also be in the conversation in many other categories. Is THAT good….
The anticipation is killing me haha. A specific scene from the second trailer where she’s crying in the arms of Stacy Martin who I believe plays her sister in this reminded me why I love her acting so much. Love, love Natalie. Also, she was so good in Annihilation too this year.
Toni Collette.
That is all.
Right? Can she be nominated for everything and win everything all the way to Best Actress Oscar 2019? She deserves every accolade in the world.
This year could go down as one of the most interesting, diverse, deserving, unique mix of Actress nominees; imagine Close (the overdue legend), Gaga (the mega star-turned serious actress), Colette (overlooked character actress in a genre film), Coleman (esteemed actress doing black comedy to downright tragedy) and Blunt (overdue for nomination, singing, dancing and acting her way to one).
Amen!
YES YES YES. I believe if Toni wins Best Actress (As she deservedly so) it would be a landmark win. She would be the first actress to win in a Horror film. I am so excited for her.
Does anyone else think that if we only got 5 nominees for Best Picture, these 5 would be the nominees.? I surely do.
I think these five and “First Reformed” (which has strong chance in screenplay, actor and BD) are in my top six. I think I would put “Green Book” in six due its unlikely BD nomination, low MC score and the controversies it has.
I like the movie, but Any above the line nomination for black panther is a joke.
On another note… I’m sure I’m the last one here to find out but First Reformed is on Amazon prime.
I wouldn’t be 100 percent surprised if it got the 9th BP spot
It’s not a joke, as it was a good film. I would prefer other films such as BlacKkKlansman to get in though, films which have something real to say. Wakanda = El Dorado. They said it, not me.
I kinda hope Amy Adams doesn’t get nominted for Vice if she can’t go all the way. It would be her 6th nom without winning, and that’s just cruel at this point.
On the other hand, is anyone expecting Steve Carell to sneak in the Supporting Actor race? Reviews for Vice seem to praise him the most. Could you imagine him and Chalamet competing against each other? But honestly I see it becoming more and more of Grant’s to lose. I personally want Sam Elliott but for some reason picture Grant to bear him out kinda like Mark Rylance beat Sylvester Stallone. I really would be surprised if Ali won again this soon.
Winning isn’t everything. I am sure Amy Adams would be happy to stack up more Oscar nominations on her bio. She can then be introduced as “Six-time nominee Amy Adams…”
I agree that Grant is the likeliest to win. The NYFCC showed he has support. I think BAFTA will seal it.
Doesn’t he play a dying gay AIDS patient? I understand he’s playing a historical character, but aren’t we tired of the trope?
Know what I’m tired of?
People who call the real-life untimely deaths of gay men a “trope” — and casually say that they’re tired of seeing it portrayed.
It’s factual detail of a factual story. This is a vibrant man who existed on the planet until he was tragically struck down at the age of 47.
Do you get bored when you see any real-life character die in a movie? Or is it only the deaths of gay men that you find tedious?
Fair point. I’m tired of corpses in movies and on tv, that’s for sure. And it is true that we now have lots of vibrant non-dying gay characters, so maybe the dying gay character is no longer considered the norm. But for a long time, there were too many dying gay characters in movies and gay folks got tired of that being the only version of gay men they every saw. Kinda like how gay folks now complain about the overuse of the coming-out story, or the overuse of the gay best friend who helps the straight character come to accept gay people–even if these stories are historical, they shouldn’t be the only gay stories we see.
I truly, honestly, genuinely was unaware of that, as, like the majority of awards films, it doesn’t open in my country until after the New Year. (Feb 1st for this film.) Thanks for spoiling that for me. However, one thing I do know from lightly skimming through reviews is that people enjoy the comedic aspect of this character, not simply the tragedy.

Where is Toni Collette for Best Actress? She has a Gotham win and is nominated for the Washington, Detroit and Independent Spirit.
She missed at the Satellites, and I was only listing people that had hit everywhere they could so far, so Gothams/ISA weren’t included, but Satellites/DFCS/WAFCA were.
She’s doing very well, though. (Colman and Gaga are probably in the lead overall, with Collette, Hall, Close, and McCarthy right on their tail.)
– Colman [win at BIFA, nominations at Satellites/DFCS/WAFCA]
– Gaga [win at NBR, nominations at Satellites/DFCS/WAFCA]
– Collette [win at Gothams, nominations at ISA/DFCS/WAFCA]
– Hall [win at NYFCC, nominations at Gothams/ISA]
– Close [nominations at Gothams/ISA/Satellites/WAFCA]
– McCarthy [nominations at Satellites/DFCS/WAFCA]
Is the LAFCA going to announce its awards today?
December 9th.
After the globes to be contrarian
Joanna Kulig coming for that best actress LAFCA.
I’d be totally fine if the list of nominees for best actress at the Oscars were exactly like this one here. 🙂
Since the group has gone 4/5 on BD noms the last two years, presuming they do it again, who is out and who is in? I’d say clearly Coogler, and he would be replaced by Paul Schrader. And I choose him over Peter Farrelly cause usually one film nominated for BD isn’t for BP. And Green Book getting a BP nom.
It’s very rare that a film with no Best Picture nomination gets a Best Director nomination. I can’t recall any case of that in recent memory apart from the one Bennett Miller nomination.
I think the point is that usually the Oscar director nominee that isn’t nominated for director at WAFCA doesn’t have his/her film nominated for best picture at WAFCA either
Altman’s nods for the Player and Short Cuts come to mind
Mulholland Dr. too. David Lynch calls me up every year or two to remind me of that as well as the fact that I’ve never been nominated for Best Director. He’s a sweet guy, really.
That’s the only time it has happened since the bp expansion.
Rami Malek’s nomination while Ryan Gosling gets snubbed for his outstanding performance in First Man makes me cringe. Nothing against Malek and he’s really, really good, the biggest highlight in a highly watchable but mediocre biopic, but come on.
Agree. I hope he misses but I doubt he does. It will be Bohemian’s consolation prize.
I usually prefer subtle roles too, but not in this case. As you said, Malek almost singlehandedly makes his film work. Gosling is not as essential to First Man. Other actors could have played that emotionally repressed lead character. Not many could have played Malek’s role.
Gosling is entirely essential to First Man. He’s the one who carries us through a haunting journey and has the audience emotionally invested in his hero’s path. Malek’s role obviously presents far more obvious challenges (having to do with the physicality, etc.) He’s up for the task, for sure and commits fully to the role but he doesn’t quite manage to escape fully the whole film’s tendency to caricature. Gosling on the other hand is constantly fascinating in a performance or towering intelligence. Portraying a man so reserved and focused on his mission, he manages though to imbue his portrayal with such a compelling mix of hidden pain and desperate determination that he’s utterly unforgettable. As far as I’m concerned, Malek, talented as he is, isn’t half as good as Gosling both in the film and in general. And in a year of so many terrific lead actor work (from Lucas Hedges’ outstanding double tour de force in Boy Erased and Ben is Back to Willem Dafoe’s tour de force in At Eternity’s Gate and Hugh Jackman’s underrated, fantastic turn in The Front Runner) Malek’s really good otherwise but vastly inferior to so many others turn in a film as bland and mediocre as Bohemian Rhapsody doesn’t deserve to be there. If I had to predict though, I’d say he’ll UNDESERVELY be there. Films as by the numbers and conventional as Bohemian Rhapsody turn to blockbusters while masterpieces like First Man struggle to break even. And work as flashy as Malek’s attracts voters much more easily than Gosling’s masterful, tricky excellence. Malek puts on a PERFORMANCE with a capital P, it’s like he screams “I’m playing a character” at moments despite the fact he does it with a spirited and often contagious energy. Gosling IS the character – huge difference. And he should have won years ago for Half Nelson. He would be a highly deserving winner for La La Land as well. There’s no comparison between a really good actor like Malek and a true artist like Gosling and it shows in they work they put out this year as well. For me anyway.
Mindblowing Oscar Stat:
Number of performances by a leading actor in 2018 better than Eric Roberts in Star 80: 0
Nice! https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/fd84291e33540bd59b906b61fc69b18c4ecb7b05f7b37d0498aa93114ac2a163.jpg
Cynthia Erivo’s nomination fills me with joy. What an incredible talent she is, Jesus Christ. I’ve read about her theater success and all as Bad Times At The El Royale and Widows were about to be released and then I saw her in Goddard’s film and I mean my jaw dropped in front of her awe-inspiring acting and vocal talents. In a fair universe she would be nominated for an Oscar for her unbelievable turn in Bad Times At The El Royale and the clip that played for her would be the scene towards the end she calls out Chris Hemsworth’s character for the scared, pathetic being he is. Astonishing acting, astonishing voice. Killed it in Widows as well. People need to check out Steve McQueen’s terrific film in theaters asap, film lovers especially. One hell of a modern studio crime / heist drama.
She’s incredible in bad times and this is coming from someone who highly disliked the film
Right? She’s magnificent. Never heard of her prior to hearing about the film.
Agreed. Bad times was a fun ride probably because I was drunk lol… but it pains me widows isn’t making the money it should be making. Both are great films!
Widows deserves to be a box office juggernaut, general audiences prefer Tyler Perry’s crap or dramas like Bohemian Rhapsody to this epic. Sad
I have a feeling Amy Adams will be snubbed forever before she has a shot to seriously win the oscar, wich means a winning role and successful movie. She was snubbed for Arrival where she gave one of the best performance of her career (for me the best of that year,), in fact she was the soul of the whole movie, a movie pretty much universally acclaimed with a great box office result. Why she should win the oscar in a divisive movie that is basically a Christian Bale’s showcase with the nature of her role that is not exactly oscar material? She can’t win with only her overdue narrative, so we come back to my first point, Academy will give another nomination to her just only to lose again?
She has a juicy lead role next year in The Woman in the Window which is posed to be released in fall film festivals (maybe Venice). I hope she has enough dramatic scenes there to finally convince The Academy that she is an excellent actress and award her her damn Oscar. Also, the film is directed by Joe Wright, the director who gave Gary Oldman his overdue Oscar. I am keeping my hopes up.
Yeah, I think The Woman in the Window could be it.
Why are people trying to say they are trying to “predict” the Oscars? What does that even mean? Oscar noms won’t be announced for two months. Why wouldn’t the Oscars get accused of copying these nominations? With that being said, I was impressed with these nominations because they seem very very sound save a few wild ones. So I looked back at this groups nominations from the last two years to compare them to what the Oscars nominated, and they are a pretty good indicator considering how early they announce. Here’s the number of noms they got right. The first set is last year followed by the year before.
Picture – 5/5 … 5/5
Director – 4/5 … 4/5
Actor – 4/5 … 4/5
Actress – 5/5 … 3/5
Sup Actor – 2/5 … 4/5
Sup Actress – 3/5 … 3/5
Original SP – 5/5 … 4/5
Adapted SP – 4/5 … 4/5
Animated – 3/5 … 3/5
Foreign – 1/5 … 2/5
Documentary – 1/5 … 3/5
Production – 4/5 … 3/5
Cinematography – 4/5 … 3/5
Editing – 3/5 … 3/5
Score – 3/5 … 3/5
So last year was stronger than the previous when comparing to the Oscars although they both ended up going 51/75. Last year they just really dropped the ball on foreign and documentary, only predicting 1 in each category. But they got 5/5 in a Screenplay, Actress and Picture.
I think they could have all 5 actors this year but would change picks for Collette, Jordan and Erivo in the other acting categories.
Welcome to Oscarland!!!
That 1/5 match-up with Foreign Language last year is particularly striking because all of their nominees were Oscar submissions, and only two of them even made it to the Oscar shortlist, while the one nominee in common didn’t win either the Oscar or the DC award.
That scenario will almost certainly not be repeated this year, considering that not only the top-4-most-likely but also the inevitable-winner out of this year’s foreign language contenders seem to already be all-but-agreed upon: Roma for the gold, Cold War, Capernaum, and Shoplifters all running just behind, with number five up-for-grabs – and it will not be Burning, read my lips and mark my words.
(Of course, now that I’ve written all this, the Academy will definitely make it their business to have some fun and to mess with us prognosticators for their own amusement…)
It’s not that uncommon that perceived frontrunners or critical darlings in Foreign Language fail to make the shortlist, like BPM last year. I wouldn’t be all that surprised if Cold War got snubbed in the end.
*Sigh*, tell me about it…
I was personally very disappointed at their snubbing of Thelma, which was almost certainly my favourite of the six BFCA nominees (though Loveless was close behind). On the other hand, I give total props to the Academy for elevating On Body And Soul, which was my flat-out favourite of last year’s foreign language contenders; I figured it wouldn’t win, but nobody was giving it a chance of becoming even a semi-finalist, let alone a nominee.
I’ll be reviewing CW tomorrow morning, and will let you know what I think (of the movie, and your theory).
Cold War is a masterpiece, a lot better than Roma…
these are bland nominees? they are trying to be like the oscars? literally a month ago more than half of you all were too scared to predict jenkins for director because you assumed that spot went to spike lee. you all didnt dare mention hawke/malek in your predictions, nor did you all think collette had a chance since her film was released in may. i heard very few mention weisz because you were so stuck on foy and i also see ervio and jordan in these lists. but their trying to now be like oscars? these are boring? no i think some of you all read into whatever this site and others predict and get stuck on that saying its “LOCKED” in september/october when it NEVER is…. but when the wave shifts, you claim it’s “boring” or others are copying. and fyi, i think they got actress wrong, pretty sure theres gonna be a spot there for blunt. and yes im calling it in advance before the tide turns.:)
Cheers, superkk.
I always do find it funny when people complain when nominations are boring when they’re just nominating the best of the best this year. Sure I’d love for Ben Foster and Alex Wolff to get some recognition. But I guarantee that if this site had its own nominations as of right now it would be very similar.
Several years ago there was a vocal contingent swearing up and down that Bright Star was a lock for BP, but when this site ran its own nominations, Bright Star *still* got shut out. You’re correct that this site tends to have the same taste as the Oscar Voters, but some of the underdogs’ fans are noisy enough to make it seem otherwise.
Yes, many overlooked Jenkins for some reason, but Hawke and his film is the big surprise as it has done best in early critics awards.
I still don’t buy the idea that Malek is going to be nominated, even if he does well with the critics.
Weisz or Stone are not surprises as they are big names in a big film. One of them could miss but it’s more likely than not as the competition isn’t that tough.
Collette should definitely be in and that might be my biggest disappointment this year if she isn’t nominated. Let’s hope that’s not the case.
Jordan is a nice surprise. “Black Panther” doing well will be a nice surprise, and I am even starting to think that the fifth BD might have shock inclusion in either Coogler or Marshall. I think Blunt might be likely to be nominated than but I think BP might be the stronger or fresher film and thus will get more support from the Academy? I am not sure because I hate superhero films, and I’d imagine the Academy even more so.
As the only person who particularly used the word “bland” that you referred to, I’d argue that there are two interesting names on that list: Erivo and Jordan, the former because no one talks about her performance in the movie and the latter for them actually being bold enough to actually kick the door open instead of just saying: “He can get nominated but there are other contending performances as well”.
But as for your other examples, I’d like to explain why I don’t consider them to also be particularly exciting nominees:
-Jenkins’ movie is rising, I never doubted his chances so I’m not at all surprised he got in
-Rami Malek is a terrible nominee and Ethan Hawke is starting to become like Toni Collette in these awards, they’re great but instead of praising these achievements in more exciting lineups, they’re just becoming names on the general list that’s repeated at every awards’ ceremony.
-Weisz was never an impossibility for the Oscars in my opinion so I knew that she’d pop up at critics’ awards but to include her and Stone and Kidman instead of using that extra spot to name someone who’s an even more exciting contender feels like their preferences are just helping the general vibe of the season move forward rather than change it
And that leads to my general problem with these types of nominations lists: I’m not saying that they’re just trying to say what the Oscars will do (I have no doubt that this is a case of regression to the mean more than anything) but that these associations have one chance a year to make themselves heard, to differentiate themselves and say: “We stand by this achievement, these are the types of critics that we are” but instead they go for mostly the same lists, they repeat the same names. Of course these are the films that they love the most but how do their choices make someone say: “I like what these people here are doing, I’m going to start reading some of these critics’ work” or “I have to see this movie because it did so well with this critics’ group”? And it’s not like these groups are massive organizations that is bound to make safe choices, these are smaller groups that can find interesting things to award if they just have people pushing what they truly love. Since these choices are lacking, the selections seem listless, just thrown out with a shrug, as if when asked to speak at a major event they’d just say: “Yeah, we agree with what everyone else said” and leave.
I expect some overlaps between critics, perhaps half of their nominees match what we expect. But I thought the would actually throw in some names we don’t known or don’t expect. For example, NYFCC picking Reginal Hall was really quite exciting because it show a wide audience of an actress of performance and film mots people don’t know about haven’t heard of. You can still give the top award to the best performance while still recognising unheralded performances and films. The whole point of nomination is to recognise unheralded but great performances.
They still have a chance to make some bold choices when they vote on their winners.
*sips on vodka and cranberry* yah you make some valid points I guess lol
Agreed. These are great nominations. Not to mention they are doing things that the Academy should latch onto, like nominating Best MoCap Performance.
It’s fun to watch people react to the early awards and to see how quickly they throw out contenders who have no wins after the first week…..
Yeah, phrases like that are overused…
Off topic but On the Basis of Sex is much better than what the critics are saying and audiences will really like it. Felicity Jones I thought was great. I quite enjoyed it.
Linus Sandgren, FSF (First Man)
Yo.
The First Man disrespect overall though, yeuggghhhh
It is weird how a film becomes unworthy or not good anymore because it doesn’t get huge box office. Is that how we judge quality of films? That’s dumb.
That’s how that idiot Sammy judges movies
You need to calm yourself. No need to call people names. You can make you arguments without resorting to childish name calling. Sammy is a good guy. It’s just that this season he has become too in love with ASIB. I don’t agree with his stance on that film and its competition but that doesn’t warrant calling him stupid or moron.
Too in love is a charitable way of putting it.
However, these exchanges will not happen again, so he can stan away.
I disagree strong with him sometimes and I engage more than most but never have we had to resort to calling each other names. You might be annoyed by his comments but that might be because you dislike ASIB/Gaga a lot? Maybe you are simply an impatient person who is too quick to lose temper? I don’t know. The point is we an disagree with him without resorting to childish name calling. It’s all just opinions after all.
Again, it won’t happen again. I will keep my opinions of Sammy to myself moving forward.
Better than nothing…
Yeah I noticed that too.
Not even close…
Also, have we finally abandoned any pretense of civility?
Towards you, absolutely not
But Sammy’s good people too!… O.K., so he’s a little overenthusiastic about ASIB and its chances – but aren’t we all, about some things, sometimes?!… 🙂
Now that I think about it, if The Favourite gets two nominations in supporting actress, we should maybe take it more seriously as a potential Best Picture winner. It’s very hard to get two nominations in the same category, and Actors rule the Academy.
I don’t know man. Three Billboards, Doubt, The Help, The Fighter all got double nominations.
Are you thinking that because of the acting branch of the academy voters?
You’re reaching. Double nominations in supporting categories aren’t rare. Especially in supporting actress where they did it three years in a row (Almost Famous, Gosford Park, Chicago), one a few years later (Babel) then four times (Doubt, Up in the Air, The Fighter, The Help). That’s only in the the past twenty years.
I so wish it’s the way it goes. If Lanthimos’ film swept the entire awards season, I’d be over the moon. Dude is a genius and the film is pure brilliance. Each of the three ladies (Colman, Stone, Weisz) is deserving of a win, not only a nomination at The Oscars and there’s not a single false note in this amazing cast. God, unlikely but I so want The Favourite / First Man / First Reformed to soar at The Oscars. Films like these remind me why I love cinema and auteurs’ cinema my whole life.
True, but Doubt had a similar trajectory (though admittedly, it was much less of a crowd pleaser like The Favourite sort of is). But then you have something like Chicago with it’s surprise 2nd supporting nod for Queen Latifah, and inevitable Best Picture win. You’re right, I think the acting nominations will be very telling toward what wins BP. Imagine, for example, if Sam Elliot misses Supporting, but Roma snags an Actress nod.
But that wasn’t the case that happened in Three Billboards last year (sadly).
I think production design might be very close to what the Oscars will be. Fantastic Beasts and Mary Queen Of Scots might upset someone, probably First Man.
Great nominations … 🙂
I agree.
So, these are the oscar’s nominees? :O
Yes, but I would expect Schrader in BD (probably in place of Lanthimos), Gosling in place of Malek and Blunt in place of Gaga.
Pretty much
What a bland list of nominees
I never understand why these critics awards try to be Oscar predictions. Year after year they only pick the top five contenders for best picture. For instance in 2017, 724 movies were released in the US and Canada. 724. Are there never some hidden gems critics want to award? Only Oscar contenders deserve to be nominated? Everybody really likes the same 5, 10 movies?
True story
I imagine most of the interesting critics live in either New York, LA or Chicago, which leaves the rest of the critics groups open to the overall banality of consensus.
where did you get the figure that 724 movies were released in the US? I think the figure is greater than that…
I love the Black Panther nomination in Ensemble. That’s a very deserved one.
Still no Ben Foster >:[
I think BP could be SAG Ensemble nominee. My prediction for SAG: Beale “Widows”, BP, “Roma”, “Vice”/”Crazy Rich Asians”. As you can see, there is no place for ASIB.
Interesting that there’s no inclusion of Amy Adams in Supporting Actress.
Nor Claire Foy. Obviously I think one of them gets it over the El Royale actress. Really that was the only curveball. That and Toni Collette.
El Royale was such a bad film … 😮
Yes! Considering they nominated Vice in Best Ensemble.
Still no love for First Man??? Welp! That’s sad but I guess Chazelle should try another one next time.
Um, it got 4 nominations! Yes, all tech but at this point, that’s all that’s safe predicting.
I was hoping to see Claire Foy. Lol.
MAJOR credit to them for the Cynthia Erivo nomination. She’s great in that movie.
Funny that they nominated the 5 strongest films in the race, yet they didn’t include Black Panther as one. But then they went on to nominate it for 6 other categories including big ones like Best Director, Best Acting Ensemble and Best Screenplay. Other than that, these are very Oscary nominations. And the wealth seems to be spread fairly. Color me impressed.
That’s probably the Best Actor lineup right there.
I loved your Rescue Dawn Mr Herzog
You are welcome.
With exception of Malek. I don’t expect it to happen. In fact, I find it somewhat bewildering that Gosling is been overlooked.
