Aidy Bryant is fronting a comedy! Yaaaayyy!!!
Hulu dropped the first tease for their new comedy series, Shrill, and it gives us a taste of what the show is about. Aidy Bryant stars as Annie, an aspiring writer who decides to make changes to her life without changing her weight or size. It’s a happiness journey, if you will, but that doesn’t mean this is a carbon copy of other female driven comedies that focus on appearance.
Based on Lindy West’s memoir, Shrill: Notes of a Loud Woman, the series is produced by Lorne Michaels, Elizabeth Banks, Andrew Singer, and Max Handelman. The pilot was co-written by West, Bryant, and Ali Rushfield. The first season consists of only 6 episodes, so be prepared to want more after the first season. It’s delightful, and Bryant deserves the inevitable awards chatter coming her way.
Look for my review when Shrill debuts on March 15!
