Saturday Night Live Writers & Performers: Jane Curtin, Anne Beatts, Sudi Green & Sarah Schneider To Receive Creative Impact In Television Award
Saturday Night Live writers and performers Jane Curtin, Anne Beatts, Sudi Green, and Sarah Schneider
will be awarded the Creative Impact in Television Award at the Nantucket Film Festival next month with Cecily Strong presenting the award.
Screenwriter and film producer Leslie Dixon will receive the Screenwriters Tribute Award. The
Screenwriters Tribute will take place on Saturday, June 22nd, 2019.
This year NFF will honor some of entertainment’s funniest storytellers – SNL alumni writers and
performers, spanning the full history of show, Jane Curtin, Anne Beatts, Sarah Schneider, and Sudi
Green with the Creative Impact in Television Writing Award. Current SNL performer Cecily Strong will
present the Award. In a writer’s room that has been often seen as a boy’s club, these women have
distinguished themselves with notable and hilarious wit, sketches, jokes, deliveries and performances.
Curtin was a SNL regular from 1975- 1980 when she debuted as one of the original members of the Not Ready for Prime Time Players.
Beatts joined the creative team at SNL in the early years and was part of the show from 1975-1979.
Schneider was a writer with SNL from 2011-2017 and youngest co-head writers in the show’s history and is the co-creator of Comedy Central’s latest sitcom The Other Two
The festival’s prestigious Screenwriters Tribute Award will be given to screenwriter and film producer
Leslie Dixon. The award is given to a screenwriter whose writing has had a distinct impact on the
landscape of cinema. With a career spanning over 30 years in the industry Dixon’s resume of work
includes notable titles such as Mrs. Doubtfire and Freaky Friday.
“Over the years, The Nantucket Film Festival has always looked to honor the incredible work of the
industry’s screenwriters and storytellers. This year we are thrilled to be recognizing a group of trailblazing
female performers and writers whose efforts continue to leave a lasting impact on Hollywood,” said
Mystelle Brabbée, Executive Director of the Nantucket Film Festival. “From the impactful words Leslie
Dixon has brought to the screen, to the hilarious sketches from Jane Curtin, Anne Beatts, Sudi Green, and
Sarah Schneider of SNL, who have been pioneers for women in comedy, we look forward to highlighting
the evolution of female voices over the last four decades.”
NFF also announced additional Signature Programs, with the return of Late Night Storytelling hosted by
NPR’s Ask Me Another Ophira Eisenberg and The Comedy Roundtable: SNL Writers Room Gold, with
Saturday Night Live writers and performers revealing some of the best sketches that didn’t or couldn’t
air! Guests will go behind the scenes of America’s renowned comedy show, digging into how SNL writers
and cast members collaborate to take half-baked ideas to screen-ready sketches. Actress and director
Gillian Jacobs joins the festival with a screening and special conversation about her narrative directorial
debut CURATED. Jacobs is known for portraying Britta Perry on the NBC/Yahoo! Screen comedy series
COMMUNITY and Mickey Dobbs on the Netflix series LOVE. Actress Ilana Levine will also bring her
popular Podcast Little Known Facts to Nantucket where she will interview Screenwriters Tribute Honoree
Leslie Dixon. In addition, NFF will host its annual TV Pilot Script Reading with Screenwriters Colony and
bring back its daily Morning Coffee With… series along with Afternoon Tea Talks.
The Festival revealed its Feature Film lineup last month, but today announced several additions below.
NFF also announced its Short Film lineup. The Festival is proud to note this year the Shorts Programs
have achieved gender parity among the invited writers and directors.
