The nominations for the 77th Golden Globes have been announced!
It’s a good day for Netflix. Not only did the streaming service pick up the most film nominations (Marriage Story led with 6), but The Crown and Unbelievable tied with the most nominations on the TV side, with 4 each, respectively.
One of the best surprises was that the Hollywood Foreign Press nominated all three women from Unbelievable–Kaitlyn Dever, Toni Collette, and Merritt Wever–so can the Television Academy please follow suit? Hulu’s Catch-22 might have been the biggest surprise, picking up nominations for Limited Series and Christopher Abbott. The biggest snub has to be Ava DuVernay’s When They See Us which was forgotten completely.

This is what happens when you spike the coffee of HFPA members with rogue CBD oil.
I’ve got no fucks left to give. They have broken me. It’s not just about The Good Place anymore. It is an all-out assault on broadcast network television and if none of you can see that, you’re cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. Zero nominations???????????? NBC needs to seriously consider deep-sixing the Globes once their contract with them is up. Or buy them out; they won’t, of course, but still. Why should they keep broadcasting an awards when they and the rest of the Big Four keep getting snubbed?
I mean, I can’t even exert the energy to be outraged. And things aren’t going to improve Wednesday with SAG. We’ll have the usual namechecks of Douglas, Fonda and Tomlin etal.
These nomination announcements, however, may be worth paying attention to:
Tomorrow: Costume Designers Guild, Cinema Audio Society
Wednesday: American Cinema Editors
Friday: Motion Picture Sound Editors (Golden Reel)
January 6: Directors Guild of America (TV), Visual Effects Society
January 7 – Producers Guild of America
At least there wasn’t any Bashir whatever his name is from something called “Sherman’s Showcase”.

They were SO good – I’m very happy about this! No Zendaya hurts, though…
Aside from Ramy and Rami, that’s a pretty white list–most egregiously represented by Jharrel Jerome’s snub. I’ve never viewed the Globes as being all that progressive when it comes to racial representation, though.
And Billy Porter.
I just realized Dern missed out for Big Little Lies. 🙁
Nothing for The Watchmen. Zendaya missed out as well.
Happy to see Dunst and Rudd there.
And all the love for Succession and The Crown. Now Josh O’Connor needs be nominated for the Emmys. Will he be supporting actor or guest actor?
