One of the most beautifully designed graphic novels of the past several years, Greg Rucka’s Whiteout has a new poster (after the cut) and a trailer (which will probably be removed soon, so watch it while it’s hot.) [UPDATE: Official trailer now patched in.]
A U.S. marshal (Kate Beckinsale), the only one assigned to Antarctica, must investigate a murder there within three days before the arctic winter begins. She crosses paths with a U.N. operative (Gabriel Macht), also investigating the murder.

The poster says 2008 instead of 2009.
yep, never very encouraging when a studio keeps fiddling with release dates (though it worked out ok for The Reader and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Somehow I doubt Whiteout is in the same league, but I’m a big fan of the graphic novel so I’m trying to maintain my chirpiness.)
First slated for release last September, and then pushed back to April of this year (ah yes, Springtime — perfect weather mood for a snowbound movie) and now rescheduled for the totally untainted date of September 11.
I’ve added the more recent poster above, Jeff. They’re both really well-designed so I’m not giving up hope that somebody at Warner Bros still cares. Seriously, put yourself in a WB marketing exec’s Skape chair and imagine trying to find an open weekend when Warners can avoid stepping on a major success already filling seats in theaters.
After the one two punch of SNOW ANGELS and NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH, it’s especially hard to see Beckinsale doing crap like this, but then no one saw either of those movies.
She was amazing in Snow Angels. That is a highly underrated film.
This looks so GOOD! Thanks Sasha for the trailers.
“RRA, are you pro ahmendinajad?”
Dion – Only on the day that I finally quit fucking cursing.
I am superhyped for Gabriel “THE SPIRIT” Macht and my 3rd favorite Kate, Kate Beckinsale (Van Helsing) to steam up the screen in Whiteout!
Would second-favorite Kate be Kate Hepburn (The Iron Petticoat) or Katie Holmes (The Oprah Winfrey Show, 2005)?
Kate Hepburn (Olly, Olly, Oxen Free) is indeed my SECOND favorite Kate!
Katie Holmes (Mad Money) does not even count in my mind and heart.
Also, more on topic, I remember the director of Whiteout coming to ComicCon in July of 2007. It’s been a long time!
I liked the trailer voiceover. Since Don LaFontaine died, I wonder if there will be a variety of voiceovers or if they’ll find one person and stick with them. Whoever does this one though, has added a nice creepiness to this trailer in my opinion. I think this looks like it could be good.
