via Craig Kennedy at LiC, we learn Anne Thompson is reporting Tree of Life won’t be ready in time for its previously announced Christmas release. This promise was always wishful thinking, and while it’s disappointing, we can’t be surprised or upset that a perfectionist like Terrence Malick will tweak and refine on nobody’s schedule but his own. Speculation now jumps to the next likely prestige premiere zone: Cannes, 2010. Bad news for anxious us; good news for #11 in this year’s BP pack.

*sigh* was really looking forward to seeing what Malick has been cooking up. Guess we’ll have to wait just a little longer…
At first I was opposed to it being in 2009. Now I’m opposed to it being in 2010. HOWever, hopefully now Apparition can throw all its weight behind Bright Star. I suppose Cannes seems like as good a place as any to debut the film if it happens. At this point, I’m still seeing the race as:
Up in the Air/Hurt Locker/Precious/Nine/Invictus/Education; Serious/Up; Bright Star/Single Man/Lovely Bones/Avatar
I’m hoping both Bright Star & sight-unseen Single Man make it in…
Sigh
Man…that really sucks….this year is going to be a crappy awards season…. Hopefully nobody names just one movie….hopefully every one can get a piece of the awards pie….Slumdog Millionaire was a good movie last year don’t get me wrong it deserves what it got last year…though last year seemed kind of boring like everyone knew this movie was going to win….maybe thats why the oscars was kind of crappy?…..This year, I am hoping there isn’t just one winner, but maybe a few?……Who knows whats going to happen, this kind of sucks, because I was actually pushing this movie to be one of the best pictures of the year….however, things happen, and there’s really no body can do about it, but just watch and observe.
