yes, I’m wandering way off the Oscar reservation with a couple of recent posts, but I can’t help that I’m a huge fan of the Kick-Ass series, and make no apologies for enjoying the hell out of director Matthew Vaughn’s Layer Cake. hey, I figure if we can be hoodwinked by Fox Searchlight into posting a dozen things about Amelia for 6 months, we should have a little faith in what we’re being shown from Lionsgate (who have given us Precious, Mad Men, Brothers, Nurse Jackie, Weeds).
Character banners, after the cut.
(UPDATE: New teaser poster via FirstShowing too.)

Watching this trailer makes me wonder how Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men 3 would have turned out.

No, you are not. Kick Ass reportedly has a kick-ass performance by Cloe Moretz, who is also in Let the Right One In remake. If Saoirse Ronan could get a nom for predictable, been-there-done-that “creepy kid who doesn`t talk and behave like a kid” performance in Atonement and may get another for what looks absolutely meh and unspecial in LB trailer, I don`t see why Moretz wouldn`t get her shot with infinitely more interesting roles in Kick Ass and/or LOTROI (if she`s as good or better than Lena Leandesson)? her turn as Hit Girl in Kick Ass is already talk of the town among those who saw the movie at London screening. 2010 will be Moretz year so this may not be a wandering off Oscars after all.
I can’t wait to see this one. I really hope they release a Red Band trailer that displays similar clips from the Comic-Con 2009 panel. For one, the movie is WAY more violent than presented here.
I’m also digging the idea of Nic Cage as Big Daddy here for some reason.
I freaking love the song choice at the end. A real tribute to Freaks & Geeks
Now that is a great trailer.
digging the posters and trailer. The HQ trailer on myspace is worth checking out- http://bit.ly/4wibTX
yay, I’m glad you guys agree Kick-Ass is worth keeping an eye on. Vaughn is working with many of his collaborators from Layer Cake on this, and I thought that was was one of the most visually dynamic movies of 2004.
Ryan…most certainly better than what we got.
