Maybe not as artfully stark as the pair of monochrome teasers we saw in September, and there’s probably more color popping in these two posters than there is in the entire metallic-palette movie. But this isn’t the yellow of a VW van. It’s jaundice. It’s a sulfurous shade of earthen ocher seeping into brackish shadows. You can almost taste the rust and decay.

What are Ms. Theron’s chances of getting nominated for a Supporting Performance?
Zero. A near cameo in a film that will likely have to put up a fight to get into best actor and possibly best film. Duvall has minimal buzz, Theron has none.
The category appears to have Mo’nique, Julianne Moore, and Penelope Cruz locked, and at least one of the ladies from Up in the Air. Nine, and Up in the air are strong contenders for a double nod, Samantha Morton and Rosamund Pike might sneak in based on their strong reviews, and if voters put Melanie Laurent here she has a solid chance too.
btw: the first thing the colors reminded me of was Fallout 3, surprisingly: http://whengamessuck.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/fallout-3-ss-26.jpg They should just call that palette “postapocalyptic”, put it in a can, and sell it at Home Depot.
I hear that she has a very dramatic part. Is it true that her character commits suicide?
EW gives it a B-, while Ebert and Michael Phillips both give it 2.5/4…. I smell mediocrity.
Theron would have a very good chance to be nominated as Supporting atress, her performance is way more solid and haunting than the Nine sluty 8 min performance or Up in the Air, and also Theron received an exellent reviews for her peroformance.
My top 3 supporting actresses :
Mo’Nique Precious
Charlize Theron The Road
Samantha Morton The Messenger
