Viggo Mortensen, The Road warrior

“We knew that the journey of making a movie out of McCarthy’s book The Road would be both physically and emotionality challenging. There is a certain degree of sadness, fear and regret that ‘The Man’ carries insdie as he strives to protect huis son and ensure their survival in an impossible world.” — Viggo Mortensen (Interview)

    Maybe we can volunteer to help edit, tmoves. Or whatever other post-production goferring Hillcoat needs. (Such as running interference and creating mapcap diversions to distract the Weinsteins while Hillcoat does what he thinks is best.)

    Viggo looks ok, but the kid should have be A LOT skinner.. looks glowing like that;

    Hope they don’t ruin this movie with a lot of talking and an awful score, otherwise, it could prove to be a great film in the hands of the right people. Love the book. Hope they don’t make a kid-friendly movie

    Ryan — Right? I’d so help him out. I’m torn. I mean, of course I want Hillcoat to take his time and get it right and not be pressured and all ‘Daldried’ by The Harv, but I was really anticipating this adaptation especially with Viggo as ‘The Man’ (when isn’t he ‘the man’ really?). Just a really good book for the times and a winning formula for a Best Actor nod (even win) and even Supporting Actor a la THE PIANO. If they don’t push it now they won’t next year. With BLINDNESS all but forgotten, I was really looking forward to this adaptation to save me. Did you read the script? Did you see the movie tie-in cover?

    [Yes, Happy 50th, Viggo!]

    Wow, that look on his face is absolutely haunting. This is sure to be an incredible film, and this photograph makes it all the more sad we’re going to have to wait until next year. *Sigh*

    “Awards don’t matter. Never have, never will. It is still possible, however, to follow the awards season and enjoy it as a spectator of the politics of Hollywood, which I relish in. As Manhola Dargis said, they’re bullshit but we love them anyway. I do not watch the Oscars to see my opinions validated, but that doesn’t stop me from smiling when my favorite films are recognized by anyone, be it this small organization or the Academy Awards

    If you think the Oscars are a serious indication of quality then there are no two ways around it: You are an idiot.”
