When last I posted a look at the two Searchlight films and their art work and put up a picture of Slumdog Millionaire, I was contacted by their publicity department to say that it wasn’t the actual Slumdog artwork. I asked if they had it and was told no. But Lo! Variety’s Anne Thompson has popped up with it today, as an exclusive, naturally. That’s the way the chicken feed scatters. It’s quite lovely, I must say.

It’s good to see the return of the grunge font.
Answer D. is kinda cliched and deprives this poster of instant cult status, but even so, looks great.
What would be a better Answer D, Tufas?
(don’t say Gaydar)
it seems marketing as an indie miss sunshine type movie would do the movie more business than this thriller poster
One problem with marketing it as as Little Ms Juno is that the MPAA has given Slumdog Millionaire an R rating. The other problem with repeating an ad campaign two years in a row is that strategy failed to win any Best Picture Oscars two years in a row.
The Who Wants to Be My Valentine? game show graphics lighten the suspense aspect and increase the heart-tugging factor. I love it.
Phil, we love the grunge!
Any movie poster that flaunts the grunge font better be prepared to bring its street cred, and so far the other two movies that took the grunge plunge this year have had the balls to back it up. I’ll be happy if Slumdog lives up to those standards.
(the US posters for The Wackness went even further urban than grunge to go all out graffiti tag)
I like the genre mash-up. It’s Mumbaicore.
Brilliant. The jewel tones and kinetic energy set it apart and the lost love quiz engages and makes it accessible, raises the curiosity. Although it has elements of other posters (big face in profile, grunge font) it’s assembled in a fresh and exciting way. I’d be curious.
It looks great. I wasn’t keen on this movie, but now I’m intrigued.
That’s a pretty poster. And reading it, it makes me emotional. Nice job!
I love the poster except I’m not sure about the answer choices. Seems a little forced to me. Either way, this is all well and good but where the hell is the trailer!?
hahahhaah Ryan
Gaydar is so 2003. OF COURSE right answer is bearwww.com
