The headlines were awash today of Angelina Jolie breaking down in front of cameras, not unlike her character in Changeling might have done. For some reason this was big news today, maybe washing away the Aniston flap from a few days ago. Jolie, Kristin Scott Thomas, Kate Winslet, Melissa Leo all play anguished mothers in one way or another. Maybe we’re looking at an early trend.

She really wants to get that nomination. She’s EVERYWHERE, for a wide variety of reasons. But UBIQUITY is something that the Academy LIKES. They need to keep being reminded of Who’s On First, as Abbott and Costello would say.
Also the whole troubing real life story of the villain in the film hasn’t really come to life yet.
The crimes were so vile that the town had to change it’s name…
That should’ve been “hasn’t really come to LIFE yet.” Sorry. We don’t want that horrible man to come back from his well deserved grave.
OR “come to light yet”?
Im scared of you sasha this is sick
I hope she gets nominated this year. Last year’s snub still has me shaking my head but I hope to hear her name come January. Nominations are in January, right? Anyway, Changeling’s screenplay was weak but she did a great job with the little she was given to work with.
Osborne Cox, hahahaha. I love that name and that character. Oh god, that’s funny. The way Brad Pitt says it, “Osborne Cox…..”
I don’t think she did it for any reason except that she’s sad her mom died. It was weird to me how they made it into a breaking news story on my local news station.
Yes, “come to LIGHT.” I interviewed Jason Butler Harner who plays Gordon Northcott so chillingly on my youtube site. Which you can go to by clicking on my name above ^. Jason is an incredibly articulate young man and he talked for the entire half-hour show ending in Parts 1, 2 & 3 on YouTube.
He really should be in the Contender Tracker to my immediate right.
Jason also says in the interview that Northcott’s horrible story is detailed in a book by the prison’s warden, called, I think “88 Men and 2 Women” a blow-by-blow account of the executions during his tenure in the 20s and 30s and Northcott is #11.
I’m sure Angelina Jolie might want an oscar nomination, but I have a feeling the film’s producers and investors want it more.
Sasha, Burn After Reading was just a ridiculously fun movie and the scene with Malkovich and Pitt in the car is brilliant. LMAO
I’m not surprised a crying Angelina made the news. She sneezes and it ends up on the CNN scroll. The holidays combined with a fairly recent birth can be tough for anyone who has lost a loved one.
Stephen Holt thanks for the interview. He skeeved me out in Changeling but is kinda hot in “real” life, isn’t he?
I am so sick of this woman and her cheating ways…ugh!
I do sympathize with her tragedy but why does it have to be all over my computer screen, everywhere I browse? I can’t really blame her for that though. The media should take the heat for this exaggerated and overexposed coverage of the Brangelina brand.
I’m sure even her shit has the potential of making headlines…though buried somewhere in some Californian sewage.
It’s just a regular Tuesday night for Depp.

Yeah, hardly a story, is it?
And by those criteria, I think Changeling is the story of most mothers, not just hers — which is probably what she was getting at anyway.

Give it a rest already will you! For someone who hates angelina you sure do spend a lot of time on threads relating to her.Get over it already. You should be worrying about Jennifer now she’s back with that douchebag Mayer.Everyone knows that isn’t going to end well.
not to interrupt the love/hatefest that is Angelina but what is more interesting to me in Sasha’s note is the potential trend in high profile films about anguished mothers.
What’s up with that? Or is the fact that the characters are mothers just a coincidence?
I’m so glad you liked my Jason Butler Harner interview for “Changeling.” Yes, IRL he’s quite a handsome young man. He’s got it all going on and as I said, usually plays heroes and poets.
Clint white-washed “The Winesville Chicken Coop Murders” as they were called and was very restrained in detailing it and it all really happened. That’s why I think “Changeling” is as great a piece of agit prop filmmaking a real polemic. Angelina is soooo getting nominated.
And Clint is Clint. They WANT to nominated him for something this year. You can bet they are going to. For Best Picture, I mean, and it all boils down to “Gran Torino.” Which is another one of those year-end hidden pix that no one has seen yet.
Steven, how the heck can something be “white-washed” and then be a “real polemic”? Since “it all really happened” how is it agitprop, and by what screwy definition is agitprop ever a “great” thing?
“They WANT to nominated him for something this year.”
Who’s “they”? Have you heard from all of “them”? And what makes you think “they WANT” to nominate him? Because he never gets nominated enough?
Based on what I hear, Angelina jolie has a good shot at a Best Actress nomination, but Changeling is so not getting nominated for Best Picture.
Angelina for best actress? why oh why? why? those academy people deserve a good ol’ spanking
It seems to me that if Angelina gets an oscar nomination, someone is going to get a heart attack.
I really believe that she deserves nomination. She will not win for sure but at least she should get nod. I havent seen Doubt or Revolutionary Road yet but i have a feeling that both Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet will get nominated but probably one of them will win.
Anne Hathaway, Kristin Scott Thomas and Angelina Jolie should get other spots. Please no Sally Hawkins. She was good for 15 minutes then she got boring
Aww, now I really want to see this movie. Jolie seems like a really nice person, of course she’s made her mistakes like we all have but her humanitarian work is inspiring. And I like it when actors pick roles that have a meaningful link to it.
@ forward2008
Angelina doesn’t deserve an academy nomination…there are far more talented actresses this year who have showed outstanding range in the acting department.
But of course, they are not married to Brad Pitt and they don’t adopt black and asian babies so who cares about them.
The academy did the right thing last year and didn’t nominate her for butchering A mighty Heart with her stoic screen persona and unconvincing accent. Let’s hope they do the same this year.
to backto1960
mmmmmkay.
is that backto1960 a high school kid or what? why is he/she so personal about AJ???? jealous of her??? or what? I dont think Academy considers who is married to whom when they nominate actors. at least it is not one of the major factors. So if this year AJ does or does not get nomination it will not be because whom she is married to but mainly because of her and other actresses’ performance. I want to believe this. Thinking otherwise is just immature. And also for someone who doesnt like AJ, that person spends too much time thinking or writing about AJ….Get a life
@ sertan
It’s crystal clear that Angelina Jolie gets all the media buzz and oscar talk because of who she is married to, her so called “humanitarian” works, all those minority children they have adopted and the “allure” of the Brangelina brand.
Keira Knightley and Kristin Thomas did a much better job, acting wise, in Duchess and I’ve loved you for so long respectively; but have you seen the whole world begging and yelling that they should be nominated?
It’s crystal clear…even for a high schooler.
@backto1960
Could you please give a break. Your comments make us cringed!! If all Jennifer Aniston’s supporters are like you, oh poor Jen.
The more your immature comments posted the more sympathy we have for Angie.
See now everybody’s talking.
backto1960 … now I have sympathy for you, please get a shrink before it’s all too late.
She’s a bad actress…what’s childish about that?
Oh, wow…backto1960, you might wanna stop before you hurt yourself.
why all the bitching and whining? and what’s so outrageous about calling Jolie a mediocre actress? is she an untouchable or something? quit bitching like 1 year olds and get over yourselves.
The fact that she isnt a mediocre actress?
She’s certainly getting her fair share of oscar rub over the past few years when it seems that every time she puts in a performance it starts getting oscar hype, regardless initially of the quality of the performance. But thats not exactly a new thing, the same thing is currently happening with George Clooney too, happened with Jack Nicholson a few years ago. It does to some extent happen with Keira Knightley too. And Johnny Depp. Has happened with Daniel Day Lewis for all of his career, usually long before anyone sees his performance.
There doesnt seem any reason to single out Jolie for your scorn over the rest of the perma-Oscar-hyped crowd.
