  2. Pierre de Plume December 23rd, 2008 at 11:50 pm 2

Well, Mirren classes the thing up.

  3. LacunaDarko December 24th, 2008 at 12:00 am 3

Haha. This is gonna be the next “Rendition”
    A pretty looking corporate thriller with a stellar-ish cast…

    that ends up being crap.

  4. Daren December 24th, 2008 at 12:09 am 4

That looks bad, and Ben Affleck still can’t act.

  5. Bowie December 24th, 2008 at 12:10 am 5

I think I can see the twist ending to this a mile away.

  6. Mary Pickford's agent December 24th, 2008 at 12:19 am 6

I hope they were paid well up front.

  7. Ryan Adams December 24th, 2008 at 12:46 am 7

Cool. What channel will it be on? TNT?

  8. Michael December 24th, 2008 at 2:17 am 8

Great British mini series. Crap American movie. sniff

  9. Jonathan Spuij December 24th, 2008 at 3:46 am 9

Well it looks entertaining but slightly silly. Anyhow, seems like 2009 has plenty of political-conspiracy thrillers coming. The International, State of Play, Duplicity. Yay!

Is that Kevin McDonald of KIDS IN THE HALL?

or Kevin Macdonald of THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND?

Would be so much more interesting if Russel Crowe was squishing Ben Affleck’s head. Or when the they’re all in drag.

    also:

    “toe pick!!!”

This was a fantastic British mini-series that had much longer time to develop the story and the characters. Ben Affleck unfortunately does not elicit the same sympathy as David Morrisey did in the original. But the rest of the casting is interesting. I do miss James McAvoy though–I wish they had just recast him in the remake.

The movie has nothing to do with the plotting of Rendition.

Too bad Edward Norton had to drop out.

Mercy, how cute does McAdams look with that hair. As for Crowe, god love him, if he is going to persist in looking like that on flm I demand someone ask him “Did you just wake up?” at least once in every scene.

  15. sonnymoscoso December 24th, 2008 at 12:37 pm 15

It wasnt bad at all… it looks really interesting
whats with all this ben affleck bashing? the guy says two lines in the trailer, and everyone start complaining that he cant act? im wainting for a better trailer but this looked interesting… much more interesting than the international trailer and duplicity trailer…

  16. filmboymichael December 24th, 2008 at 12:52 pm 16

Hey how about what I hope is a contender for best animated next year? 9, directed by Shane Acker….it looks good (however, I’m a bit biased – I was part of the crew in Toronto)

  17. Paul Outlaw December 24th, 2008 at 12:55 pm 17

    Affleck is fine.
And it’s great to see David Harbour once again.

  18. Joe December 24th, 2008 at 3:04 pm 18

The trailer is no better than ‘meh.’

  19. JBonez December 24th, 2008 at 3:18 pm 19

Anyone know what the music at the end of the trailer is from? It was in some movie recently and I can’t think of it and it’s bugging me…

  20. Chamboosy December 24th, 2008 at 5:04 pm 20

It’s easy to see why Norton and Pitt abandoned ship so early. That said, I do like Kevin McDonald’s doco’s so here’s hoping…

  21. Matthew December 24th, 2008 at 5:12 pm 21

Everything looks so stilted. This is sad. The British miniseries was so freaking good. Should’ve got Paul Abbott to write this one too.

  22. loser December 24th, 2008 at 5:53 pm 22

again a trailer withouth a original score

the changeling, appaloosa and valkyrie had all boring scores in the trailers (like the many movie trailer soundtracks)

they use the same score over and over

    enough!!

  23. Seankgallagher December 24th, 2008 at 7:12 pm 23

Of all the movies coming out the next year, this is making me the most nervous. I loved the miniseries, and I was one of the few people I know who didn’t like THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND. Plus, I am also worried about Affleck playing the David Morrisey part – he certainly looks like he could be a politician, and in real life shows off enough knowledge of politics to bring that to the role, but the fact that he only has a few lines in the trailer makes me wonder if maybe the powers that be are trying to cover for him. He does look somewhat awkward in those clips.

Having said all that, everyone else looks terrific, and Helen Mirren is the only other person who could play Bill Nighy’s part, and she looks great. One question, though – both Jason Bateman and Robin Wright Penn appeared in the theatrical version, but not the online version?

  24. Jennybee December 24th, 2008 at 8:24 pm 24

The miniseries rocked. This, I’m skeptical, mainly just because it is so necessarily condensed and abridged. I’ll see it if the reviews are decent, but I’m skeptical.

I second the wish that James McAvoy were in this version, too. He was in the mini-series way too little.

  25. Mary B. December 24th, 2008 at 10:09 pm 25

That’s Kevin Macdonald. The grandson of the late and great Emeric Pressburger. I’d like to see him do well especially after his earlier work but I doubt this is it.

It’s funny but you really can tell how bad Affleck is just from a few lines. Neither Crowe nor even the goddess that is Mirren looks much better. Macdonald and the studio knew the script needed work. Damn studios.

I’ll be content rewatching LA Confidential and a Prime Suspect or two.

  26. Marshall December 25th, 2008 at 11:59 am 26

JBonez, it’s Clint Mansell’s score from the movie Smokin’ Aces. I believe the track is called Dead Reckoning.

  27. JBonez December 25th, 2008 at 9:39 pm 27

Thanks Marshall that was really buggin’ me cause I work in a movie theater and a lot of these scores blend in together and i lose track, lol. How does Clint Mansell not have an Oscar yet? They use his scores in every trailer it seems (Lux Aeterna especially). Has he done anything this year? Let’s all promote him…

  28. Free December 26th, 2008 at 12:31 pm 28

Forget this trailer, did anyone click on the Youtube link to Travolta’s Paris with Love movie? Now THAT looks like garbage, Battlefield Earth garbage.

  29. JAB December 28th, 2008 at 2:37 pm 29

yeah this has rendition written all over it…but i think McAdams is up for a banner year in 09 otherwise.

  30. alexg December 29th, 2008 at 3:50 pm 30

Maria Thayer from Strangers with Candy is the girl who gets killed in the movie!
