Oscars.org has registered biggestmovieevent.com for their teaser page.  There are some groovy, actually modern graphics and cool videos.  It’s quite unprecedented, I must say.

They have no right calling it the biggest movie event… Try again when you nominate The Dark Knight, you ass holes.

It’s going to be the biggest movie event until Best Supporting Actor is announced, and then it’s going to become one of the smallest.

Oh god, I’m going to have to stop reading the comments if EVERY damn post dissolves into bitching about TDK. Ridiculous.

    I hear that, Haifa!

Did anyone click on the stars to read the trivia questions? It says Meryl Streep has the most acting Oscar nominations with 14. Hehe

You have to actually feel bad for producers of the show. It’s not their fault that the two most acclaimed films of 2008, which also happened to be smash hits commercially, weren’t nominated.

All this flash and glam, hiring Hugh Jackman and retooling the broadcast, is for naught really.

And looking down the pipeline, there doesn’t seem to be an upswing in store for 2009’s award season. I doubt we’ll have the perfect convergence of art and commerce again any time soon like we had with TDK and WALL-E.

Oh come on, i’m not even a huge fan of TDK, but the first thing I think about with “biggest movie event” is that film.

Loyal Mehnert sums up my feelings perfectly.

I’m still going to play a drinking game to this year’s oscars to keep it interesting.

The Biggest Movie Event of the Year. Love the tagline.

  9. Retlaw Kciuq January 25th, 2009 at 7:00 pm 9

It would have been my Biggest Movie Event of the Year had the nominees been:

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
    The Dark Knight
    Milk
    Revolutionary Road
    WALL-E

Instead, I’ll most likely skip the awards this year.
