It’s probably the best thing about Oscar season, when they run the great films on TCM without commercials for 31 Days of Oscar (you know, with the date change, it’s no longer 31 days but it used to be). Here is a lovely promo:

Why are TCM’s montages often better than the ones on the Oscar shows?
Some of the films shown in the montage aren’t actually part of the 31 Days of Oscar programming. Hmmmm.
I hate not having cable.
I look forward to this every year. I end up not sleeping so much, but it’s worth it.
I think I prefer TCM’s “Summer Under the Stars” where they set aside each day out of August for a 24 Hour marathon of a different actor/actress, but this is great too.

i think this was the video from last year; this year’s video played in theatres and included a glimpse of such Oscar nominated fare as “Crimson Tide” (really?) and “The Natural”.
So glad to see STAND BY ME and SEVEN in that montage. It’s great as newer and newer films are accepted into the pantheon of classics. Or as TNT used to call them, The New Classics, heh.
I love, love, love, love, love TCM! And I imagine this is one big reason why.
Yeah, the video is from last year – I don’t think they made one for this year.
